I've always wished that there was something that would block cell reception while the car is in any gear but park. I realize there are some situations that call for an emergency call but I just feel that the rewards would outweigh the negatives.

 

Good idea but how about your passengers, they can't text or listen to streaming music.

Okay, here it goes... I do not think most high-accident areas are by design. Maybe some are initially designed poorly, but after awhile I think things are usually adjusted (speed limits, stop signs/lights, etc.). But, in my opinion, very few, if any of us (if we're being honest) are "good" drivers. Sure there may be quite a few of us that have never had any accidents, and by that measuring stick, we consider ourselves "good". But a lot of us speed, some of us tailgate, some more of us talk on the phone, some may text, some may not use turn signals, some may be eating a Big Mac, some may be shaving or putting make-up on, and on and on and on. And then, you put us all out on the road at once, it's a wonder we don't have even more accidents. But, here's the kicker, we get by being lucky enough, that we actually convince ourselves that we're better than we actually are. Which in turn, allows us to think we can push the envelope even more. Now you add in poor road conditions, weather, and unexpected pedestrians, and you have a formula for disaster.

 

As for the driver of the car involved in that deadly accident the other day, maybe they're thinking "I wasn't doing anything I normally don't do." And maybe they weren't. All I can say is "there, but for the grace of God, go I" because there's been countless situations where I've found myself momentarily on the white line, or even across the double yellow. Fortunately there's been no one there at the time, so I've escaped harm or causing harm. But, it doesn't necessarily make me a better driver.

This....................The wife has an aunt that lives in Robertson Co (dont ask me the road name, I just know how to get there, lol.) At one point, I thought I was going to have to stop driving and rent a donkey to ride the rest of the way there. Good grief.
