I will try to post more this weekend :thumb:

1930, This team only gave up one TD all season.

Great pictures,(1930) Allen is my uncle(Eck Allen QB)along with other great Tomcat players. The lineman across the back row look big and healthy .

Eck Allen would later play for West Virgina ,Greasy Neal talked him into playing for them,Eck would later coach at Brown University replacing the great Vince Lambardi as backfield coach when he left.

Great Tomcat history and tradition keep it coming.:thumb:

and folks, ... thats Greasy Neal of NFL Hall of Fame "fame"

Woody is that a young Ernie Chattin in 1930?

well... I'd just be guessing, but I wouldnt be surprised if you were correct.

I was trying to guestimate but I'm not sure about their ages due to the impact of the war.

We're going to have to get some "long-timers" on here to help us - notice i didnt say old timers ;)

Woody Jr

Is that Estep Greg's papaw or someone else?

I get a kick outta that Mgr Jackson - he looks like a real ladies man !

   My moneys on papaw.

That 1938 picture was taken in front of the old Ashland High School (later Coles Junior High, and now Alumni Gym and a church).

If you look at the right side of the picture, in the background, you can see the gym...

Man, I'm flashing back, looking at these.

For what it's worth, I don't think that the Estep in the picture is related to Greg and Chris.

Hey Jericho - notice how much better looking the linemen were back then? By the early to mid 70's, they were pretty ugly guys...

Sorry i was wrong on the university and spelled Lombardi wrong.

Eck Allen did coach the backfield at Brown and was basketball coach also and took Brown to the first NCAA basketball tournament ever held.

From Brown he went to University of Maine as Head football coach and coached the basketball team.

After serving in the Navy the head coach at Fordham University called and said Vince Lombardi who was thier backfield coach was leaving and Eck replace him,Eck would coach there from 1949-55.

The 1930 Tomcat team were undefeated and outscored their opponents 591-6.

Frances i have to agree on that ,they all have hair.
