Campbell County 66 Bishop Brossart 44

Featured Replies

The Camels came out on fire scoring 22 points in the first qtr led by Dre Jackson's 10 points including two 3 pointers. The Camels followed up with a complete team effort and going into halftime up 35-19. BB was lead by Spencer Hackworth in the first half with 8 points. CC continued their scoring throughout the second half out scoring BB 31 to 25.

Campbell County was lead by Matt Wilson's game high 26 points and 13 rebs. He was followed by Blake Losey, Jackson and Trent McGovney all scoring 10 points each.

Hackworth led the Mustangs with 11 points, followed by Zink with 8 points and Crawford's 7 points.

Camels will face Scott on Fri at CCMS.

Too much Wilson and too much Camels in this one. Camels took no prisoners early, swarming Mustang ball-handlers on defense forcing turnovers and pressured shots. Dre Jackson, who did not play in the Crosstown Classic, lit us up for 10 first quarter points, and then made no additions to the scorebook thereafter, but the damage had been done as the Camels led 22-8 at the first quarter stop and would never look back. While I somewhat expected us to make a run to get back into the game, none was forthcoming, as the Camels, who put up periods of 22, 13, 15, and 16 never allowed the Mustangs to threaten. According to our stats persons, we only mustered five first-half rebounds, and only 13 on the night, while turning the ball over on 15 occasions. To our credit we did block 7 Camels offerings.

Matt Wilson was a beast down low, scoring 8 field-goals and hitting 10 free-throws to lead all scorers with 26 points. On the night the Camels hit 20 of 35 free-throws, while the Mustangs could manage only 10 of 19.

The book closes on the careers of four Mustang Seniors - Spencer Hackworth, Blake Saunders, Gabe Roberts, and Jon Zink, as well as their senior manager Zach "Boomer" Born. Starters Jackson Crawford and Jacob Zai return next year and will be joined by six juniors, many of whom have seen substantial varsity playing time which will benefit them greatly next season. Sophomore shooter Bryce Kremer, who hit a late-game three, could also factor prominently into our success at the varsity level next year.

The Camels move on to face Scott on Friday night at 7pm. Both teams advance to next week's 10th Regional Tournament at the Mason County Fieldhouse. They will be joined in the field by Mason County, Augusta, Harrison County, Pendleton County, Paris, and Bourbon County.

Congratulations to the Camels. As stated above, the Camels played 4 quarters of hard nose defense tonight. It was refreshing to see them come out strong, and carry it until the final buzzer. Wilson was the man tonight. Jackson and Losey bring so much, even when they are not scoring. They need to continue the hard nose defense. The Camels bench gave some very good minutes as well.

If the Camels continue to play solid defense, they are a serious threat to return to Rupp.

If the Camels can play each game like they did last night, they are definitely going to be a threat. Everybody looked sharp; even Wilson who I thought looked like he wasn't quite 100% with that ankle. 26 points though so what do I know!
