Speaking of bbq...

...there is a local bbq place here in Frankfort called Staxx. Wouldn't call it great, but it's solid I think. Anyway, I got the smoked brisket the other day. Was smoked/cooked perfectly, but there was no spice/flavoring to it at all. I asked was there any pepper rub or anything put on it before it was smoked, waitress said no, it was smoked plain. Not a wise decision, really needed some "pop" and would have been really good with a rub on it as it was cooked just right. I don't think I have ever seen a place not put some sort of rub on.

Knowing you, I would have thought you'd put your own rub on it. :jump:

What did you get? As i said, it aint great, but its ok. Pork is pretty good but the brisket really needed something.

Is this your Urbanspoon review?

Any BBQ joint that doesn't have a smoker rolling at lunch time should be viewed with suspicion. Pulled Pork and beans were better than McRib but not as good as Old Hickory. Pork was without sauce and I had very little pink meat. The staff was very friendly and it wasn't bad-- just not very good either.

Not me, but pretty much sums it up. To be fair though, not many places compare to Old Hickory either. And as I said about the brisket, was smoked/cooked very nicely, just had no flavor.
