I mean, you take Spalding out of the equation, then you're just taking away the 6'10 Louisville commit who is the size of a center but can beat wings down the floor.

I think you can say that for lots of teams if you put it on their most athletic player. If you aren't saying it about them, then they're either really athletic or not very athletic at all.

I don't think Trinity is as athletic as Ballard, and it's not even close, but I don't know what kind of teams you usually say are "athletic compared to Ballard" either. If there are teams you say that about, then they will roll most opponents in Kentucky and it's not even going to be close either though.

All I'm saying is you're overselling the athleticism of T. Cov Cath and T looked pretty even aside from Spalding. I don't think you're giving CovCath the credit they deserve.

Then that's more of a compliment of what I think of Ray Spalding, and not meant as disrespect to Covington Catholic. I don't think Covington Catholic has an athlete like him and that's something that plenty of other teams can't say either. Not trying to knock Covington Catholic, but if they're trying to beat teams at things like run 'n jump pressure and dunking, then they're playing the wrong game once they advance far enough. If they had a kid who was 6'10 and as fluid an athlete as Ray, then I didn't see them last year and their road through State would have been even easier if they'd played him.

IMO, if you are going to pick a player in the State to start a team with, then my pick is Spalding. Put the guy that you can say that you'd take in the situation that I just named Spalding in, then that alone is going to be a pretty athletic team by virtue of that and nothing else.

I'm just trying to say that if you say, take out the 6'10 kid that runs like a deer who committed to Pitino out and yea... they're not "that" athletic. That's not really saying a lot because you are JUST excluding the best basketball athlete in the State. Take away a Top 100 kid in his class from ANY high school team save a Monteverde, Oak Hill, Mater Dei, whoever, then you'll see a huge drop.

Thread has diverted. All Im saying is cov cath is a good team with a nice résumé, especially as of late.

I'm on my phone but have a feeling PP92 will edit my post again . My bad.

I'll completely agree with that. No argument here at all. They are the State Champs until someone beats them.
