FBI agent steals seized heroin for own personal use

Featured Replies

A heroin-addicted FBI agent ingested the evidence against at least 28 alleged drug dealers, leading the agency to dismiss dozens of charges—and as many as 150 defendants could go free as a result, the Washington Post reports.

If someone could fix headline, should read FBI agent. Thank you.

Wow. That whole story is crazy along with the things he reveals.

For real. Evidence rooms aren't kept under control at all from what I can tell. I've heard of a pair of detectives in major crime units stealing from evidence. There was a guy in Baltimore took what was then the equivalent of a Sting Ray today to run an illegal wiretap. A guy in a small Louisiana parish went through boxes and sampled a few bits of cocaine from each before finding the one he liked best and trading it to a biker gang. Then there's the legend about some guys in New Mexico who erased evidence implicating them of a crime from a hard drive by using strong magnets.

Interesting.

The Wire, True Detective (he was actually State Police CID), and Breaking Bad?

At both local departments here the evidence is kept locked up with one person in charge of logging it in and out. It's not open to just be rummaged through by whoever.

Bam! nailed it. Looks like we're fans of the same TV shows.

If messing with evidence in the Evidence Room is like they make it seem on TV, then there'd be a lot more people going free.
