Central 64 Manual 62

The thing about Coach Bibby is that he is not a good fit for every player that comes through his gym door. Some may suggest he even keeps the cuffs on some kids or is a bit too controlling. To his credit he does not give some kids free reigns while others must comply. He treats them all the same. Years back when he was at Eastern, he had Rondo until he went to Prep School and they remain close to this very day.

I couldn't agree more with 95% of this. He does treat them all the exact same. This can be good and bad, but he's no more controlling than a kid is going to get at the college level in a winning program. Coming to him can be a complete shock to a freshmen, or a kid that's never been coached that way. Like any coach, he gives players with the ability more wiggle room. Some kids you have to save from themselves, because they can't do what they or their parents think they can do. Some kids get frustrated when they get to his program (and understandably so), but what most of them don't understand is, as a 14-17 year old, they really don't know too much about basketball, and it usually takes a kid who's not used to that structure (which appears extreme) at home; til they get in college to realize that they're ahead of everyone else. I was at the game last night, and he had like 10 former players from recent squads at the game. They grow to appreciate that when they get to the next level. But I agree, he's not a fit for the average player who is just happy to play high school ball (which are a lot of kids). He's way too intense for a kid with that attitude, b/c he runs his program like it's a college program (which can be overkill for a bunch of kids).

Believe it. I've seen it 3 years in a row now. His system spreads the floor and simply gets open looks for his team throughout the game. Watching their consistency of execution, you wouldn't know if they were up 15 or down 15 without a scoreboard. Even in the Manual blowout, they got plenty of looks. They just didn't knock them down and it got away from them. All the players are open floor players and somewhat similar in skill set this year...maybe they are missing the knockdown shooter. I can see why more individually successful players might get frustrated in that system...they play a true team system and don't seem to cater to anything based on their personnel. Some could consider that a negative....including me.... but fun to watch. Manual has more talent 1-7, and one particular special player, but they don't know who they are yet. 7th region is in a league of their own. Oh, if anyone has the clip of Suttons dunk in the 3rd qtr...please post it. Filthy, filthy stuff.

Stat breakdown shows Central shot 2x the free throws Manual did. 16-3 discrepancy in the 2nd half. Manual led in every facet/analytic you can dream up outside of that, except the one that really matters at the end of course.

When I was at the Manual/Central blowout at LexCath the one thing my buddy and I noticed was that Bibby was still coaching as if it was a one point game and the players were still playing hard like it was a one point game. I enjoyed that about them.

I would agree do disagree with Manual having more talent 1-7. I think they had the best 2 players on the floor in Sutton and West, but their 2 - 15 really aren't that great. Now they play their roles and it makes them a good team, but I would say that Central had the next best 4 players (not even including the starting guard that's out). That one special player, and West carries the load, but the others I wouldn't deem that talented. Central does have two all-7th region players on it's team from a year ago in Wells (11 pts, 7 assists this game) & Thompson (19 points, 3 blocks), and they're only juniors.

Central 55% from the field. Manual 43% as well. Manual also had more turnovers. Only 3 more fouls. They were just outplayed, and Thompson went out for 3 minutes in the 4th with leg cramps.

I will agree.....to disagree with all of this in SO many ways.

I believe the opposite. Exactly the opposite. So exactly opposite that you could almost replace "Central" with "Manual", and a few names, in your post above and that would be my take. Central has many players with average to good talent levels and they are a good team because they ABSOLUTELY play their roles. If Manual gets efficient to go with their spurtability....watch out.

Hey.....you're a homer, i'm a homer, we watch our teams very closely and other teams not so much. I will comfortably agree to disagree :)

I will agree that Thompson could likely end up all region.

I was saying that Thompson and Wells were already all-region last season as sophomores. 2nd team all 7th region, but still all region players.

Man, I was stuck deep in other 4 factor wildness. Central indeed shot a better pct - from the field and the line.

Only 2 more fouls, but 2x free throw discrepancy is accurate

I've got the turnovers @ Manual 13 - Central 16

Harness, Manual's best ball handler, played about 7 minutes total with fouls
