9 days and I'm anxiously waiting to see how many non-Ft Thomas ladies transfer to Highlands on 02/14...

I second that, just b/c I've heard it a handful of times. :banana: When you've got a good program, the players and parents that aren't apart of it want it for their program. I guess it's the old saying of, if you can't beat 'em...join 'em. Or commit mutiny:jump:

If they do transfer (unlikely by now), competing for the starting spots will be tough as they only lose 2 Sr starters. Good luck Lady Bluebirds, looing forward to another great season!!

That's funny: If you were chasing championships in softball at the High School level and were going to transfer into the 9th region where would you go before the 2014 season?

 

I doubt Highlands was in that discussion if so it was likely a short discussion:

 

Highlands Fastpich Softball Program (pre 2014)

- an occasional district championships

- had never won a regional championship

- 1 young lady playing in college

- games are played in the valley which was one of the worst home fields in the region.

 

Not a great resume IF you were looking to transfer to a "Top Softball School" you would end up in Boone County or a catholic school not at Highlands! Although if you were looking for a school where you are guaranteed the opportunity to get a great education getting you ready for college while having an awesome high school experience, HHS is a pretty good option!

 

Let's face it before this year Highlands Fast Pitch softball team was never part of the discussion of the top teams in the 9th region in fact was glad to be in the discussion of the second tier teams in the region! Even last year it was there is all kinds of poetntial but until they prove they are able to play with the big 3!

I was just thinking about the schools in Campbell county, but if we're going outside of the county...looks like Ryle is the only state winner in Northern KY area I could find. If one was to chase for titles and had the means, there would be endless oportunities. As far as catholic schools go, I believe Owensboro Catholic has the most titles. I'm just glad to see a school in Campbell county achieving. Not sure if any team in Campbell county has gone as far as Highlands. Anyways good luck to Highlands, but I'm backing the Campbell County softball team and hope to see them blaze their own trail.

Looks like RCC9 is going to take one for the football program. See what happens when you are successful. People chime in with their insightful comments.

I am excited to see some of the hard working underclassmen that have put in tons of offseason work and time in the work out facility get a shot at a vital starting spot! Nothing like good competition to shake things up a bit. Cant wait... hard work beats talent unless talent works hard!

Some new training digs for the girls softball program and all team programs. What a great new facility for them to train in and help succeed on the playing field.

This is a really nice addition to the campus. But I hope just because this is available, kids and parents alike will not take it for granted and think they don't have to work and train hard. I'm confident they won't. After hearing what has been going on in the other facility, their work ethic is non deniable. After all, Highlands sport programs have succeeded at the highest levels before these improvements, and will continue long after. With the proper leadership in place, I look for the softball program to have great success this year!
