Ranked No. 1? Maybe in NKY, but not by many people statewide. Butler or E'town is No. 1 overall. According to the BGP rankings, E'town is No. 1.

Also, they're NOT in winner's bracket final. Nor is the game at 8 (it's 8:30, as there is a game at 7 on the same floor and it's darn near impossible for Game 1 to start at 7 and Game 2 to start at 8).

 

Holy Cross is just in the quarterfinals, not final.

 

It's a 24-team tournament. You don't win two games and make the final already.

 

Holy Cross plays East Carter at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the quarters.

 

IF it wins, it plays 1-of-3 teams (E'town, Grayson or ACS) in the semifinal at 5:15 p.m. Monday.

 

IF it wins again, it would meet 1-of-8 teams (Lewis, Butler, Warren Central, Blazer, LexCath, Mercy, South Warren or GRC) in the final ... at 3 p.m. TUESDAY.

Holy Cross is a very, very good team. They deserve some attention. They'll beat a lot of people this season.

 

However, unless it plays E'town this week, it won't play a local team of mine this year (based on Holy Cross' schedule). So you're way off base on that one.

 

And I also doubt people would take Holy Cross over nationally ranked Elizabethtown (three D-I signees, PLUS two other players with multiple D-I offers PLUS the state's Gatorade Player of the Year/National Player of the Year candidate Erin Boley).

First off need to do a better job of reading CKSportsfan....I said they are in winner's bracket final 8. Secondly, ranked #1 in Northern Ky. I am well aware of the state polls.

As far as IF HC played Etown. I would expect almost everyone to take Etown over HC. Etown would be the clear favorite in that game if it were to be played. HC is the top team in Northern Ky and is thrilled with getting a chance to play in this tournament to see how they stack up. Etown and Butler are the clear top teams in each side of the draw IMO.

So when you say Holy Cross is No. 1, don't be shocked when people get confused or don't know what you're referring to/referencing at first.

Quarterfinals? Sure.

Elite eight? Yup.

Third round? Yes sir.

 

Still, Holy Cross is a very good team.

Quality side to contend with.

Wouldn't be shocked to see them at Diddle.

 

Could/should beat East Carter.

 

Could give E'town a good, competitive game (which NEITHER team has had many of this year ... both teams have destroyed most of their KY competition).

As far as addressing rankings in our local poll, well that is what we do on both the boys and girls side here in Northern Ky. If that also is a problem seeing it than you need to get over it. The girls side doesn't normally get much coverage or as much as it should and I was just posting a score. You have taken it to a crazy level. LOL.....Good luck to the team you root for.

Best of luck to Holy Cross. Sacred Heart is always a tough team and Lincoln has been fairly solid recently.

 

I'd think Holy Cross beats East Carter to set up best of the north vs. the best/second best in the state.

 

Honest question: Is Holy Cross that much better than Highlands? Saw the (Lady) Bluebirds haven't lost yet, either.

Holy Cross fell behind 10-1, came back to take a 20-point lead, then coasted. Sacred Heart hit a bunch of threes in the last couple of minutes to make the score closer than it was. But ... if you haven't seen the Indians play before, you should know that tonight was a slow-down version. Hobbled by injuries and sickness, they did not play well at all. Starting guards McClendon and Turner are both playing with foot injuries (they were two steps each off their game tonight, and in fact Turner sat much of the game) ... HC's starting big Hassert (plays the "4" position) didn't play at all because of a rib injury/muscle spasm ... one of the first subs off the bench (Gabbard) is coming off of being seriously sick ... and C. Mayhaus, while she's finally back, is still only 70 percent. And another sub is injured and didn't play.

If Holy Cross is fortunate enough to get past East Carter and reach the SEMI FINALS - lol......they will clearly have their hands full with E-town and will be a heavy underdog.

I like Holy Cross becasue of some players that I know and have watch develope into fine athletes, but Holmes is very tough also so before you start crowning one or the other you might want to wait til they play each other because last I checked the Lady dogs are 6-0.
