Braves Finalizing Justin Upton Trade

Don't forget BJ's contract.

That's who I was referring to with the Upton contract. Can't bare to say his name. Lol

They should trade Kimbrel as well. 70 win teams don't need expensive closers. He should bring some decent prospects.

That would be a dumb move to trade him.

I skimmed your post and didn't see that. My bad. :lol2:

Why? Why do you need a closer on a 70 win team? He would bring back some nice prospects. By the time they're contenders again he'll be a free agent. Do you think they'd pay what it would cost then? He's a tradable asset that could help with the rebuild.

Holding on to unnecessary pieces like him can turn a 2 year rebuild into a 5 year rebuild.

That logic holds no ground because at that you'd suggest they trade Simmons, and Freeman as well. The NFL East isn't a powerhouse and the Braves will always contend. Maybe not next year but there's no sense in giving up 6 years of Kimbrel for assuming they'll not contend at all.

One of the best ran organizations in baseball from the early 90's until about 3-4 years ago has turned into one of the worst.....

Everyday players are a lot different than high-priced closers. Closers are important, but very replaceable. Having $42 million tied up in a closer on a 70 win team is like putting new rims on a car with 250,000 miles on it.

He could be turned in to 2-3 good prospects and help a lot with the rebuild or he could keep saving 45 of their 75 wins.
