Pikeville is making progress BUT the layout and planning is AWFUL.

They should have had a vision, the riverfill should have been shopping, dining, etc., NOT BSCTC, the hall of justice, and office buildings, Or the EXPO should have been where the new library is.

Absolutely right.

The Expo should have been out on Cassidy Blvd where the Library and Tractor Supply is instead of downtown. Then the restaurants, shopping, hotels, etc. could have been built around it or adjacent to it.

Still, even at that, I am glad to see the economic development going on there. I have to wonder if the economy can support it all though.

That's the main question. Pikeville definitely waited way too long to kind of become independent from the coal industry. They relied on it for too long and now that its crashed, it almost took the town with it.

The industrial park being built, and the distillery will definitely help push the economy in the right direction though.

Couldn't agree more. No reason for the library to be built where it was and the expo would have been better served elsewhere.

It's official. Going across from the new library. City of Pikeville confirmed it last night.

Seen that through the city manager. It's still a done deal from what I've been told, just a premature announcement. Look for one early to middle of next month.

Well, it only took forever but the groundbreaking will be held on Oct. 28th along with the announcement of BDubs.
