Denver PD Try To Erase Evidence

Doesn't look like they are firmly saying that no video was deleted in this.

Kind of stupid for the department to say "he has all three videos, but hasn't given any to us".

I'll also say that the department doesn't seem very forthcoming with facts about when a warrant is or isn't required in a search of someone's electronic devices subsequent to arrest.

Why did he not file an official complaint with the Department, Sheriff's Dept, State Police or FBI?

Maybe due to his vast arrest record he doesn't like to talk to police.

What's stupid, if he has a complaint against the police and has video proof why would he not give them a copy to substantiate his claim? I'm not sure what the "Stupid" part is?

No one filed a complaint. The guy told Fox that he thought the officers acted correctly. He audio also said he doesn't know if he deleted the video, the officers deleted the video or if it was even deleted.

Was any of that in the Fox report?

Seems like they might have had a chance to look at it and deleted it then, so why not just take it to court and possibly let an officer perjure himself along the way now if that's how they want to play it?

Didn't I read in one of those articles that the FBI says that they have a copy? Maybe he doesn't trust a fair investigation behind the blue line. Maybe he's full of it.

The guy has already said he doesn't know if they deleted it, or if he did, or if it was even deleted at all. So, with that being said, how would you prove any of the officers are lying ?

The only thing that bothers me from the video--and I'm not counting erasing evidence because I don't see where the video shows that at all, is why was it the safest move for the officers and the suspect to punch him repeatedly in the head? They said it was because he refused to comply with opening his mouth and that he was in danger of choking or being poisoned from swallowing the heroin and that the other officer's arm was trapped under the suspect. That leads to a few questions that I'd like our leo friendly people to answer:

1. How does it benefit the officer that had his arm trapped under the suspect to violently pound on the part of the suspect that had that officer pinned? Wouldn't that be likely to inflict more damage?

2. How could he have swallowed the evidence when the video was clear that an officer had ahold of it? It was a sock, not a tiny baggie--that wasn't going down his throat while the cop was holding it. He had 2 other officers to pin the guy down. I've dealt with dogs and people that wanted to bite down on something before. You stick you fingers over the nose holes and wait on them to open their mouth--they always do.

3. If you're really trying to protect the suspect from being poisoned by swallowing the heroin how is it safer to punch him in the place that he is carrying the heroin given that he has it in his mouth? What if you cause him to clamp down on it?

I've got no problem with how they handled his girlfriend and doubt that they deleted the witnesses video but I think 3 guys that already had the suspect on the ground could do better than repeatedly hit him in the head. Not that I feel sorry for the suspect. They may have been justified in doing so by their department regulations/existing laws but just because they could beat him doesn't mean they had to. It is situations like this that cause so much animosity between citizens and the police.
