Smith has to be a frontrunner/contender for 3-A Coach of the Year.

 

That being said, it does not look good -- not his fault, mind you; more the system -- if he is No. 1 Coach in 3-A but second (if, we don't know how votes turned out) in his own district.

 

Doesn't help Gay much, either, if Smith wins a state/class/bigger award.
