Beechwood and Paris have been ranked in the top 15 in 1A all season and both teams had no trouble in their first playoff games. Beechwood defeated Bracken County 62-0 and Paris rolled over Ludlow 55-19. In round 2 the Paris Greyhounds will travel to Ft. Mitchell to take on the Beechwood Tigers.

 

Paris comes in with a 9-2 record. Coach Brian Washington has done an impressive job reviving the Greyhounds football program. In his three years as head coach Paris went from a program struggling for a win or two a year to a 6-6 record in his first year and then a 9-3 record last year. Coach Washington is hoping his team can better last year's record by pulling off an upset win over Beechwood. Paris' two losses were to highly ranked teams in 1A Frankfort and 2A Shelby Valley but there are no high quality wins in the 9 victories.

 

Beechwood also enters this game with a 9-2 record. Both their losses were also to highly ranked teams in 6A Dixie Heights and Ohio D2 Mt. Healthy. However, the Tigers have 3 quality wins over ranked teams - 5A Franklin County, 4A Covington Catholic and 2A Newport Central Catholic. The Tigers have a 9 game winning streak and have been very impressive in those 9 wins.

That history tells us this will be a tall order for Paris. Can the Greyhounds challenge Beechwood and perhaps pull off a win?

I think the lack of depth and numbers does Paris in ultimately. And lack of being able to throw it against Beechwood. Won't be as lopsided as in the past 3 years maybe but Beechwood will still win handily.

I think Beechwood will get to the magic number at some point in the game - maybe not in the first half but likely some time in the third quarter.

Beechwood wins this one and every other game to the state championship victory!

Beechwood is to physical for the Paris. I am big fan of the Hounds and think Coach Washington has done a great job, but they are still a few years away. Beechwood will advance to Regional Title game.
