I am not sure Combs is the best defensive player on Beechwood's team. DT Riley McKown and LB Brett Slusher are probably better. DE Jonathon Stokes also should be considered in the mix for best defensive player.

 

Come on Eye, I will say that Slusher is very good, and would have no problem putting him on the LB list, think he's a better receiver then LB though. Combs is better then either McKown or Stokes at DE, I watched the Beechwood/Dixie game and Stokes is better on Off. and didn't even notice McKown in the game. I'm sure McKown is a nice player, just not one of the top's in NKY. JMO. I do like this Beechwood team though, and do think they will do some damage in the playoffs.

I concur on 3-4 that I have seen. I've yet to see the Newport player. I would add Deaton to this list. And yes I would add Colson Machlitt-Dixie Heights. These players have great motors, don't make many mistakes, are "freakish" at times, and are game changers!

I'd bet their stats would be a lot better if they ever played in the second half of their games. :popcorn:

 

Then maybe SK should start playing a tougher schedule.

OK, here are my top Def. players at there positions that I have seen to this point or before.

 

CB- Ethan Harrison- Dixie

S/CB- Ben Zumdick- Cov Cath

LB- Cam Pitzer- Cov Cath

LB- Berry Deaton-SK

NT/DT- Brandon Johnson- Dixie

NT/DT- Marcus Watson- Cooper

DE-Colson Machlitt- Dixie

DE-Braden Combs- Beechwood

Like any solid BW team, this changes week to week. McKown is a player and I honestly believe that he causes a lot of plays to be bounced outside where others can and should make the stops. I think Combs is the most consistent and a much smarter player. If we are talking averages and we only got to pick 2 from BW to put on the field. I'll take Combs and Slusher with McKown being a close 2nd.

 

Certain people have a love affair with Stokes. I do not. I think he's a good player that could be as Great as some think he is if he played smarter and tougher. I can't recall seeing him step up against a good strong opponent.
