McCracken trying to add more before the half.. They pick up 10 on 1st down with .45 secs left.. On the next play, Mayfield intercepts a Hughes pass and the Cards have new life at the McCracken 48 yd line..

The Stangs get another int right back and get the ball at there own 20.. I doubt they try much here.. Of course, I was wrong, they tried a pass but it was incomplete.. They now take a knee... Halftime score 17-7 McCracken Co, but, a much better 2nd qtr for the Cardinals and they'll get the ball 1st to start the 3rd qtr..

Is it just me or does the offense look better with Hughes playing everywhere but QB? Hughes looks like a natural at WR. He'll be a dandy to watch at UK

Mayfields line looks better but the Mustangs skill players are the difference

From the Mayfield standpoint, there OL will have to give Arnett a little more time in the pocket and they'll have to protect the ball better, 2 lost fumbles and 2 ints put there defense on there heels giving up field position each time and while the D has played well, you can't continue to give a team like McCracken that many short field opportunities.

 

From the McCracken standpoint, they have to feel they should be up by more not converting a couple of times in the Cardinal red zone and only coming away with a field goal on another. I think they will need to get a quick stop on the Cardinals 1st 2nd half drive and then get behind that big OL and make Mayfield's defense have to stop them and then try and hit on a big play and score 1st in the 2nd half and take away any thoughts of a Cardinal comeback.

 

Needless to say, this opening 2nd half drive will be huge for both teams..

Mayfield gets good field position at their own 46 yd line.. Tyler picks up 9 on 1st down.. Tyler picks up 11 yds on 2nd down to the mcCracken 34 yd line.. A Cardinal lineman is down with an injury on that play.. Well, at least it looks like Mayfield has come out strong in the 2nd half with a pick up of 9 and 11 respectively..

Mayfields starting center, Dunn, is coming out of the game with that injury..

Tyler picks up 4 to the 30 on 1st down.. On 2nd and 6, a screen pass was tipped and incomplete, on 3rd and 6, Arnett completes a pass for 3 yards, bringing up 4th and 3 and they are going for it.. T/O Cards.. You hate to use a t/o this early in the half, but, this is a big play in the game..

On 4th and 3, Arnett hits Bacon, who's immediately hit short of the 1st down... McCracken Co takes over 1st and 10..

On 1st and 10, McCracken picks up a nice gain to the Cardinal 48 yd line... Another Cardinal player is down.. Cole Kendall.. Looks like just cramps..

McCracken picks up 8 on 1st down, they pick up another 1st down on 2nd down.. Hughes catches a pass to the cardinal 17 yd line for another 1st down..

McCracken has it at the Card 7 yd line.. Make it the 4 with a 12 man on the field penalty On Mayfield.. On the next play McCracken takes it in from 4 yds out.. PAT is good... McCracken Co now leads 24 to 7 with 8:17 to go in the 3rd.. The Mustangs made that look pretty easy as it seemed a Cardinal player went down with an injury or cramp on nearly every play..

The Mustangs kick the ball out of bounds so Mayfield will make them rekick it 5 yards deeper.. On the 2nd kickoff, they kick it deep and Bright makes them pay with a great return all the way to the 48 yd line.. A 5 yd penlty on Mayfield, gives a 1st and 15.. Arnett to Tucker for a 1st down to the Stang 34 yd line.. Tyler picks up 6 on 1st doen to the 28 yd line.. On 2nd and 4, Arnett throws an incomplete pass, bringing up 3rd and 4.. On 3rd and 4, Mayfield scores on a 28 yard run by Tyler... PAT is good... McCracken Co 24 Mayfield 14 with abt 6:00 to go in 3rd qtr..

Great Kickoff coverage by the Cards gives the Mustangs the ball 1st and 10 at there own 14 yd line.. McCrackens Macklin comes off the field injured on the play.. Looks like McCracken also being hit with the cramps bug.. Hard hitting game..
