Newport Central Catholic 2 St. Henry 0 (Boys)

So pretend you are one of the coaches.

You now get a second chance to prepare for the last 20 minutes........What changes do you make?

Take out the players who refuse to listen to direction. Remind the players that they are a team, not a bunch of individual players.

Interesting......and which team are you coaching when delivering this message?

In this case it applies to St. Henry. Last night I saw balls being played to where a player should be, but wasn't, and players trying to hold a ball while waiting for a player to make the run. Several directions were called, but fell on deaf ears apparently. I think St. Henry is a team with lots of potential, it just doesn't seem to be coming together yet. Early days...

New Cath wins 2 - 0. Louis scored the second goal off a throw in late in the first half.

New cath hasn't received a lot of love on here but they have scored 11 vs 1 given up in their 4 games..........

NCC did what it took to win. St Henry had their chances and didn't convert including one off the crossbar and one off the post. Coulda...woulda...shoulda. I wouldn't say that St Henry didn't have the talent to win the game, but the coaches haven't found the right mix at this point. They truly haven't put things together yet. Not using Soccerama to find the right mix seems to have been a tactical mistake that I would hope they regret and don't repeat.

I agree with this. The first NCC goal was an unfortunate PK. Second NCC goal came right at the time that the Crusader center back was taken out of the game to evaluate for injury---making the Cru more vulnerable as they were adjusting with a substitution.

That said, I see these teams as pretty well matched.

Nice to see a group of Crusader boys with the beach team cheering on their classmates.

Congrats to NCC, and good luck in the All A.

Who are the top players for NCC?

All region team last year Jacob Hensley and Paul Grosser. Other strong players are Patrick Louis & Seth Freppon. NCC got it done against St Henry last night. I wont comment on St Henry because it appears most on here want to feel good about them. Hats off to NCC for taking care of business.

Very impressed with Paul Grosser and Seth Freppon.

Good luck tonight in the All A.

Very good win for the Breds - they just keep reloading with a bunch of athletes who know their roles. Consider that they lost 7 starters from last year's regional final team, they've jelled well but are still a work in process.

OK. I'll take the bait. As I said before, I think that there is enough talent on the St. Henry team to have won the game last night and they put two off the frame that would have equalized it. You obviously from your comment feel otherwise. As I said before, they are still trying to figure out their lineup and positions that people should play. There is talent there, but the coaches and players haven't put it together yet.

From what I saw NCC was beatable, but as I said they did what it took to win last night. NCC has some nice players, but they will need to improve to advance out of the region.
