David Sloan of Taylor County, Class of 2017

He has been invited by USA Basketball to come to Colorado Springs in October to train with a group of "elite underclassmen". First and foremost, congrats to this young man -- this is undoubtedly a huge honor!

I've never seen David play, so beyond knowing he is a PG, what can people who've seen him tell us?

How does he compare to Cole Von Handorf of the same class (2017)? Interesting that David was invited and Cole wasn't (or at least I haven't heard of him being invited).

Can anyone recall other Kentuckians being invited to this in the past, or is this a relatively new thing for USA Basketball? What a cool experience.

Congrats to the young man!

Sloan is a solid point guard, and when I say that I mean he's a pass first player. However, when ever he needs to score, he can get to the basket easy with his speed. Very fast and crafty with the ball. Having Quentin Goodin also helps!

Plays AAU with St. Louis Eagles.

And the Wiggington kid last year too! :thumb:

Congrats to young Mr. Sloan! That's a great honor for him!

Goodin is the only other KY kid that I'm aware of that's been invited, at least that I can recall - some sort of Taylor County connection perhaps?

I've seen him play a few times - both high school and AAU. I believe he played on the St Louis Eagles' (15U) team though he didn't start (at least when I saw them play). He's solid. Quick but small. I do not think he's the best 2017 guard in the state but he is a pretty nice player. Still good to see any KY kid get that type of exposure!

Day Day reminds me of a smaller Ge'Lawn Guyn at the same age

I've had the pleasure of seeing him play a few times. He's an absute scoring threat every time he touches the ball. Really fun to watch.

Started at the freshmen and JV level as a 6th grader. Could really be something special as hard as he works. Good handles, ULTRA QUICK, goes to the basket strong and can finish (suprisingly good finisher for his size), and can also shoot it pretty well too.
