Boone/Conner/Cooper at Dixie 7 on 7

Featured Replies

Oh good. I was getting a hot flash there for a second. ?

Had the pleasure of watching the 7-on-7 with Hellbird and really enjoyed our time. Lamb was at the head of the class amongst the QBs there due to his quick reads and majority of well thrown passes. Moore got off on a shaky foot and then settled very well hitting the middle sideline routes and seams by the "4th Quarter."

Grab your popcorn folks Dixie will have a passing attack this season vs. throw to Caple left and throw to Caple right. There will be two more Caples to confuse you this season :lol2:. The Colonels offense has made good strides improving well throughout the three 7-on-7s I've seen.

Campbells LBs are fun to watch and their QB is a lot like Avery Wood. Camels line is going to be very big again. Anticipate a lot of run and long sustained drives this season. Hard to replace a Zabonick (sp ?) at WR. HB covered Cooper well. Hard to replace a Fussinger. Saw them trap a lot of catches with their chest versus using the mits. Happy to report no injuries and good luck to all fine tuning between now and the start of the season. :thumb:

I thought Moore looked like the best QB when he was warmed up. Question is, how will he perform with a pass rush. Although Dixie's line looked quite large while they were running on the track.

Here is the part that Drew Moore looked like he needed to improve on and he did show some signs of doing just that toward the end but really struggled at first doing and that is this:

He needs to look off his primary and use his progressions. Even in the first hour when he would you would know he was going back to his primary no matter what because he would look real quick to his 2nd option and immediately back to his primary and force the throw wether his primary was open or not which led to a lot of income toons or passes knocked down by defenders.

If he gets a chance to watch the film I hope he watches what Boones QB did from the beginning of the 7 on 7's till the end and that is went through all his progressions whenever he had to. It was a thing if beauty as Content1 can verify. You could see Lamb starting in one side of the field and his head moving all the way to the other side as he looked at his progressions. There was no way Db's could get a idea where he was going with the ball. Drew for the first 7 on 7 locked in on one receiver and tried to force too many in to him and was easier to defend because the defense knew exactly where the ball was going the majority of time which is also why there were no TDs by him that session.

As the day went in he started with his check downs and took what the defense gave him and he looked really good.

^Agreed and good assessment. Not that a poor or outstanding 7-on-7 translates to success or lack of come game time and all are suited up. It is fun to get a snapshot of where a passing game and defensive backfields are in their growth with 4-5 weeks remaining before season kickoff.

On a side note the weather was outstanding this morning!

:dancingpa

He sustained a minor injury last week. Almost back to full speed but didn't want to push it today.

Still hurt?

So Boone beat Dixie in 7 on 7? I never thought I would hear Boone winning a 7 on 7 I am impressed with Boone they can only get better.
