Small School Camp at Ballard

Featured Replies

I remember seeing something about a small school camp being held at Ballard. Heard it was a great camp and the kids get a lot of eyes on them. Does anyone have any details on the camp? Thanks

I have praised Coach Jackson at Ballard for his work. His combine is a great opportunity for college aspiring football players. He has quite a few D3 and NAIA coaches at his combine and the players get a lot of attention. My son made more contacts at Ballard's combine then any other single event he attended. Most places he would get one, two or maybe three contacts. He had 10 contacts from Ballard's combine, and ultimately received scholarship and positions from five or six schools that he first had contact with at Ballard.

Definitely the best camp I have ever attended.

Very respected guy in Ohio who keeps tabs on/advises college prospects tweeted this out today...

https://twitter.com/Mark__Porter/status/478864480785686528

"Class of 2015, if you don't have a Division 1 offer by now its time to register for a Division 2 or D3 camp and earn a scholarship there."

Just heard today from another small college program coming to add to the list: Wabash (IN). Almost all the Kentucky small colleges have said they're coming and we'll have several from Ohio, several from Indiana, and new attendees from Missouri and Illinois this year.

Guys: if you're coming, be working on FLEXIBILITY and MOVEMENT drills (cone drills, shuttle runs, etc.). I've noticed that coaches are just as interested in how you LOOK going through a drill as they are your time in the drill -- for that reason, we'll have some stations that aren't "timed" but are meant mainly to let coaches see flexibility in the hips and how you look when changing direction.

Appreciate all the kudos for our camp on this and other threads. I think it's gone well in the past, but we really think we can do it better than we have.

Coach J, I cannot get to the link for registration. Will you be able to register at the camp itself, and also if you don't mind me asking what is the cost?

Here is the link to a previous thread about this combine. It contains a lot of good information.

$25 per individual. If 8 or more from same school, $15 per individual.

Form should be accessible from http://www.facebook.com/louisville.combine (you have to click on NOTES under "MORE" in header).

OR... Print from the PHOTOS uploaded at http://www.facebook.com/kyfootballprospects

Got confirmation today that Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (rated #1 in the country by US News & World Report for "Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs"...**West Point & the Naval Academy are #3 & #4 respectively on the same list) and Georgetown College (soon to be NCAA Division II) will have coaches at the camp.

Coach J, Kudos to what you do, and what you do for these young men. My son and I will be there, we are looking forward to it.

I love this idea for the small school camp. Great job!

CoachJ can correct me if I'm wrong, but in reality it is designed by the colleges because D1 schools are not allowed to attend events such as this, so it gives the D2, D3 and NAIA schools a great opportunity to see players up close and personal. With colleges having limited budgets to travel, they love the opportunity to travel to one place and see many players at once. In addition, I think CoachJ sends information on the players to other schools that are not in attendance.

Seems like a win for all involved.
