June 9, 201412 yr My problem with that is they're not your (general your) or anyone else's choices to make. They're hers and honestly, no one else needs to be giving their input. She lives in the public spotlight -- by her own choice -- and that puts her in a position to be held up for criticism... and even ridicule. I'm not even one of the people that buys into the theory of cultural decline, but for those that do, she's probably a poster child.

Lots of celebrities and others have taken to twitter about women having the right to go around topless since men can.

We've (people on this board) have had this discussion many times on this board, so don't take this the wrong way. If your child looks at someone famous and tries to emulate what they do, what they wear, how they act, there is another issue IMO. It's all well and good to like Rihanna or Lil Wayne or LeBron James, but to take it to the level of doing what they do and dressing how they dress, that's a problem. A problem that starts at home. Professional athletes and singers should NOT be viewed as role models of how to live your life, IMO.

Your daughter will know she can't get away with it because you will tell her. I know some may not parent but what is going on is exactly what Rihanna wants. If parents can't teach their kid right from wrong that's a bigger issue than Rihanna. There is a thread in a forum dominated by sports talk, about Rihanna, in the state of Kentucky. Mission accomplished for her, the fact that it's because she shows it off is irrelevant to her.

I only care in that these people tend to be role models for kids (rightly or wrongly)... and pop music right now leaves a lot to be desired in that department. ... although I did worry about her mental state a couple years back and her seeming willingness to just sort of... let things slide... with Chris Brown (I have plenty of experience with that and I see it all the time through my job)... but I haven't heard anything about the two of them in a long time.

That's why I said "any young girl" and not "my daughter" because she definitely knows that wouldn't fly! Unfortunately, there are young girls with no role models to look up to who will emulate Rhianna.
