May 29, 201412 yr I'm right there with you. There are really only 3 candidates & 1 was a lock (Phillips). The 2nd player was between Meso & Frazier, and I likely would have guessed Frazier. Frazier is having an outstanding season: .341 OBP with 9 HR & 17 RBI's. In the last 30 days, Jersey is hitting .290 with an OBP of .351 with 5 HR & 17 RBI's. Now how can he have 4 more HRs on the year than he has in the last 30 days but the RBIs be the same?

May 29, 201412 yr They only have 3 players deserving of consideration, and none of them are position players. Cueto, Leake, and Simon are the only ones that are worth considering IMO.

Leake might get a little more notice, but he's not an exciting pick. Then again, some guy named Jeff Locke made it last year.

LuCroy in Milwaukee, Gattis in Atlanta, Molina in St. Louis, and Posey in SF are all more likely than Meso due to how poor the Reds have been, the fact Cueto will already be representing them, and the fact that Meso's missed about half the season. At 2B, Utley, Dee Gordon, Neil Walker, and Daniel Murphy are all more deserving than BP. At 3B, Frazier probably has the best argument of any Reds position player, and even then you've got Arenado, David Wright, and Casey McGehee all as deserving or more so than Frazier.

The Donaldson kid last year from Oakland is a great example of a guy that didn't get in because of that, despite having probably the best numbers of any AL 3B at the break last year. Umm, he's hitting .360 on May 29th after missing roughly half the season with injuries....Big difference. My point about HRs is catcher is not a historical power position. The corner spots (LF, RF, 3B, & 1B) are where HRs are anticipated. Neither BP or Meso is making the All-Star team. That's just the way it's going to be.

June 9, 201412 yr What were you saying? Down to .304....Hitting an All-Star like .156 over the past 10 games. Another week or so of sub .250 hitting and my .275 may end up being too generous a number.
