If they happen to draft the right one 10-12 wins isn't out of the question. The real question they have to ask themselves is how good is Dalton really? How good can he be? SF rolled the dice that Alex Smith wasn't going to get much better and they drafted a QB to replace him rather than pay him which would diminish their roster in the future. The Gals should do that as well. I agree though that it is tricky b/c they could swing and miss big time and that would really hurt them. I just think there is no way they compete for SB's let alone division titles if Dalton is getting $15M a year or so.

Unfortunately it's probably going to happen. There just isn't a QB in this draft that I feel is going to be better than Dalton. There's a handful next year though.
May 8, 201412 yr If the Bengals trade Dalton and move up, they better take the proven QB in Manziel. He's the only one I feel could come in right away outside of maybe Bortles. If they stick to picking a QB later, it shouldn't be before 3rd or 4th rounds. At that point I look at Aaron Murray or David Fales.

I am confused when did Manziel play in the NFL and prove himself already? Manziel has not done anything to prove he will be a good NFL starter, shoot no QB ever has proven that they will be a for sure thing. Manziel has potential to do great, and potential to be a huge bust.
May 8, 201412 yr Couldn't one argue that this is what the Bengals did with Andy? Waited until later in the draft to get a QB, after the first level of guys were gone. Where has it gotten them so far? Your theory would be valid if the QB's taken in the 1st round that year were actually doing well. The only QB drafted in front of Dalton that has done well is Cam Newton, and he was the #1 pick so no chance of getting him. The Bengals probably would be in bad shape if they drafted one of those guys who were considered first level as you say. This year is very similar to that year, where even the so called 1st rounders are big question marks.
