April 6, 201412 yr I'm putting this here in the "Break Room" instead of "Pro Sports" or "Boys High School Basketball" to try to reach more people, and can't figure which of the other two forums would make more sense for the thread. Just for kicks... If you took the "Top 10 WNBA All Star Players" and put them up against "The Top 10 National All Star High School Boys Players" who would win? If not that exact scenario, then perhaps the "Top WNBA Team" vs. the "Highest Rated High School Boys Team in the County"? Either scenario could provide the necessary elements to produce the telling results. I honestly can't say for sure because part of me can see it both ways. Perhaps the Boys would dominate with height and speed? Perhaps the Woman would dominate with fundamentals? Perhaps no one would dominate? Mind you that these Women tend to have more testosterone in their systems than the average Women might. Do you think that they'd ever attempt such a test, or could it potentially produce embarrassing results one way or another? What do you think?
April 6, 201412 yr Why? Defend. Boys are bigger, faster and stronger than girls. The top high school players are likely 18-19 years old and they likely work out more than the average high school boy so we're talking men versus women. I'm not saying the boys will blow them out but the boys would win. I don't see how the women could stop the boys from scoring. Who is going to guard Jalil Okafor and Myles Turner?
April 6, 201412 yr The top high school team in the nation has 5-8 DI players on it. I'd take Montverde over the WNBA also.

April 6, 201412 yr I'd say the boys win, it might be close, but they still end up winning pretty easy. When I was in college, me and some my teammates would spend Sunday evenings at the fieldhouse playing pickup 5 on 5 basketball. One Sunday, it had snowed and everything got cancelled, including the Girls basketball team. Our Girls were D2 (at the time only baseball was a D1 sport) but at the time they were a top 25 team, and a couple ended up playing professionally overseas. After a run where we won 4 or 5 in a row, the Girls team who happened to be there challenged us to a game. We had one guy who was 6'4" (who ended up playing a 12 years in MLB )a couple guys just over 6 foot, and the rest of in the 5'10 range. Aside from our one tall guy, the rest of us were just ok high school basketball players (I was 1st or second guy off the bench, could shoot the lights out, but not much handle, and couldn't create my own shot). We smoked em....3 straight times. They couldn't defend, couldn't get a rebound. They were able to occasionally run a play with some success against us, but for the most part we restricted them to taking jump shots which if they missed, we grabbed the rebound and beat them in transition. Bottom line, I think it would be a closer game than the one I experienced, but no way the women can defend well enough, or compete on the glass to win. The best boys are just too strong, and fast. April 6, 201412 yr No love for Woman's smart fundamentals, and hard-knock collegiate and professional experience? It's not about love. You're asking women who are going to give up height, weight, strength and athleticism at every position to win with IQ and fundamentals? The more I think about the more I am thinking it would be a blowout. They can't defend the rim properly nor would they score much down low.

April 6, 201412 yr No love for Woman's smart fundamentals, and hard-knock collegiate and professional experience? I have plenty of love for girls sports. My daughter played basketball. She and none of her teammates will ever beat me though. Fundamentals are important, but the size, speed and strength difference is too big to be made up.
April 6, 201412 yr We do not need to use the top boys players in the country in the debate. Covington Catholic beats WNBA teams. Ballard beats them. Dixie beats them.

Using all the high school teams in Kentucky, select the name of one school for their level of play that could produce more compatible results in such a game. A school somewhere between State Champs CovCath, and perhaps one of the lowest ranking teams in the state such as Covington Latin? Where would the proper drop off be in strength of teams, so to speak? I'd venture to say that the Woman's team would murder the Latin Trojans. And while we're at it, how would they fare against the CovCath Colonels?

I agree with Clyde that some of the top teams in the state would beat a WNBA team. Where that cutoff is? No clue.
