March 24, 201412 yr UK wasnt a 6 because they wanted to keep them away from Duke until Eight Game. I think that UK was used to create matchups that would attract a national audience and give the talking heads a story for as long as Kentucky was in. General controversy of the 8 seed and a (supposedly) tight 8/9 game. Made for TV match-up of preseason #1 vs. undefeated. Rematch with instate rival. And if the rivalry is not enough you have a marque game featuring the last two national champions. Match-up with Duke with a replay of the Laettner shot every 5 minutes (oops - that did not work out so well).
March 24, 201412 yr Author How is it a fact that NC State shouldn't have been in, when there is nothing to support that claim but your own personal opinion? SMU
March 24, 201412 yr Author Top 25 rankings are absolutely meaningless when it comes to the tournament. They lost 2 games to teams that aren't in the top 150. That's why they missed out on the tournament. If you play that many bad teams you can't lose to them and expect to make the tournament, you just can't. Win any one of their 3 atrocious losses (USF, Temple, and Houston) and they're in the field. They didn't and they have no one to blame but themselves for missing out. Actually they have the committee to blame for missing out. I find It comical that anyone can defend the committee with the horrible job they've done. As long as you defend the horrible job then there just isn't any debating anything about the tournament with you. UK should have been an 8 seed, UL should be a 4 seed and all those ACC teams that were seeded higher and are now out were seeded just right also. Committee did a swell job.
March 25, 201412 yr Here's a thought - expand the field to 266 teams. That would leave 85 schools for the other tournaments like the NIT. Have basketball until the middle of April. Take the reality shows off TV and have games on all the channels! Have 20 teams play 10 play-in games to narrow it to 256 (who wouldn't get excited about two teams going to war for that 57 seed in the West). Would we be happy then?

Have actualy Basketball people decide the seedings and invites etc.
