March 23, 201412 yr No chance I would. How does a championship game end in a tie? How does any game? You play to win the game. You play till someone wins. That's the entire point of professional sports.
March 23, 201412 yr Gambling. Gambling is definitely possible with ties. Happens all the time in soccer and there are MASSIVE amounts of money bet on the European leagues every week. The two are not related.

For the athletes, you play to earn money. For fans, you pay to be entertained. You don't pay to find out who wins; you can just use a scoreboard app on your phone for that. You play until the game is over. If you didn't get a win, you don't deserve one. Go home without it.

I don't even like ties in games I don't care who wins.
March 23, 201412 yr I'll support NFL overtime when there is some penalty for failing to win in regulation. To put it another way, use a points system like hockey so that winning in regulation is worth more than having a win handed to one team simply because the rules mandate extra time. Even then I don't see a real point to it, but at least then it makes sense.
March 24, 201412 yr ^^^ What about golf? If tied, stop after 72 holes? Golf is interesting since there is no "regular season" and no "playoff". They've tried to invent one in recent years but it's pointless and no one I know cares. Seems to me that every tournament needs a champion since a trophy is awarded at the conclusion of each event. There's still nothing about golf that demands a winner for every tournament. Just split the prize money for winner Nd runner up like they do for every other place in the standings.
