It was a combination of what you said and Goldie said. And I was courtside as well with a bag of mediocre popcorn so the view was the same as yours.

 

But in the final two minutes was Grahams pressure defense on Butler that helped make the difference in the fourth.

From the three minute mark in the third QTR, Mason never scored a FG until 14 seconds in the game. Until their last two quick FG Mason only took 5 shots and had 10 turnovers n the fourth QTR. I give Clark credit but Mason had a 5 point lead going into the fourth and Clark never scored for the first 2.5 minutes before they scored. Mason pounded the ball into the floor and did not even look to score in that time. I give Graham credit for being in the right spot, but about three times Mason got a rebound and did not even look and threw the ball right to Graham trying to get the ball to Butler.

Mason County (23-9) led by eight in the third quarter but managed just five points in the final eight minutes, paving the way to the Lady Cardinals' successful comeback.

 

 

“They had us on our heels but we just dug in on defense,” Graham said. “We guarded and just did a heck of a job. There were some huge defensive plays by Lexxus (Graham) defensively to get us going. They battled and I'm just so excited to have the opportunity to live another day.”

 

 

Skinner didn't score her first field goal until the 7:05 mark of the third quarter.

 

Clark closed out the first quarter with a 9-0 run and led 14-8. Paige Taylor scored five points during the spurt with a 3-pointer and a layup underneath to give the Lady Cardinals a six-point advantage going into the second quarter.

 

The lead remained at six until the Lady Royals closed out the first half with a 13-4 run for a 23-20 lead at the break. Clark managed just two field goals in the second quarter.

 

 

Anderson's trey gave the George Rogers Clark High School girls basketball team a 35-33 lead and proved to be the difference in a 41-37 triumph over Mason County Saturday at the Fieldhouse.

 

“That was a huge three, a huge three,” Clark coach Robbie Graham said. “She let it go and it looked like it was going dead-eye in. That's a big shot. She didn't hesitate. She just knocked it down.”

 

In addition to the shot that gave the Lady Cards the lead for good, Anderson also made three of four free throws in the final 12 seconds to secure Clark's first trip to the regional finals since 2011. Anderson led Clark with 13 points followed by Lexxus Graham with 12.

Defense when it counts or "Being in the right spot" as some like to say. However you want to look at it, it was a great game by two great teams and I was lucky enough to see it live last night.
