With the "W" Covington Holy Cross moves on in the 35th District Tournament to play #1 seed Covington Catholic @ The Bank of Kentucky Center on the campus of NKU on Wednesday 2-26-14 with the tip-off coming @ 6:00 PM

Holy Cross, Coach Schrand did a very nice job of not laying it on the Trojans, after a 50-14 first half score.

Congrats to both Coaches and both teams players. Since this is the last game for the Latin School Trojans this season, I am going to post their roster.

Coach: Bob Ganzmiller

How was the crowd?

Good luck to Latin School next season, I am sure they gave it 110% as usual.

How was the crowd?

Well..........lets just say that it was a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be. I was thinking around 235 or so but..........

Good luck to Latin School next season, I am sure they gave it 110% as usual.

They were out manned but they played hard and left it all on the court. No Coach or fan could ask any more of them. Congrats gentlemen, your Coach, Parents and fellow students should be very proud of your effort tonight!

To borrow a quote from Seton Hall's old coach Bill Rafferty, his pregame speech before they would play interstate foe Princeton. "Boys you better beat them tonight, they are going to be your bosses someday!"

Looks like Latin has a young team with only four seniors this year. I am curious how Frommeyer played as according to the roster the young man is a Freshman. This would mean he is more than likely the same age as the area 7th graders, possibly 8th. Glad to see him score some points against the older guys from HC.

Although Holy Cross has some decent players, the probability is that they don't have a prayer in the game against CCH on Wednesday.

Holy Cross is Catholic - they always have prayers. But then again, so is CCH.

Bob Ganzmiller has taken over with first year coaching duties from long time head coach Gene Morrison who is presently serving in his 36th year at Latin, and is now Covington Latin's Athletic Director. Gene was the assistant coach to the late Fr. Ed Heile, and the head basketball coach, as well as the coach for additional team sports totaling 30+ years. Not sure of the exact amount of years, but you can figure somewhere between 30-35.

In researching Bob Ganzmiller I only discovered one of them mentioned online, so if the information I found is truly related to THE Bob Ganzmiller, he was once a basketball, (and probably a baseball) player in 1955 for Western Hills of Cincinnati, a baseball player for Ohio State in 1960, and the head coach of Western Hills in the mid-to-late 60's. Did not find which year he graduated from Western Hills, but if it was 1955, that would make him perhaps something like 76 years old? Would love to know if a 76 year old man is truly resuscitating his coaching career, and if so, that there is pretty interesting stuff.

Hey TOG... Did Latin's coach appear to be a man in his 70's???

FYI. Bob was out as coach about mid-season. Gene Morrison took over for the remainder.
