From the short distance away on my high perch in Mayfield I heard and saw a lot. As Bug said " 1st Region 3A was set up on a platter for Tilghman and they struggled to find their way often times". The fans didn't expect near the struggles and he never once beat Mayfield. I am sure many on here that are not from this area don't realize just how important that is to the fans of PT but it was one of the biggest marks against Wyatt. Wyatt also tended to run the program in a manner that offended some where every detail, no matter how minute, had to run through him. This led to some witch hunts in later years and kept everyone on edge creating what some felt was a unhealthy environment. He bought himself time after winning the state title after a dismal start in 2009 over Somerset but as the Mayfield losses piled up and his teams continued to start slow and failed to win any titles in what was viewed by many as a watered down class the natives clamored louder and louder looking for anything to criticize Wyatt over. After this past season some frustrated fans organized a meeting in regard to the direction of the program, a similar type meeting of the boosters a couple of years before this led to the booster club being dissolved. So there was certainly a lot of negativity going around at the time Wyatt resigned. In addition, in recent years, home games were played in a ghost town as crowd support has dwindled to nearly nothing.

In my opinion, with the rise of the new McCracken County Program, change was needed at the top to stop what by PT standards is a slide downhill.

Not saying it's not a good hire but I wonder if the fans or players will like the Wing T.

 

Me personally I would rather watch the spread vs the Wing T.

 

I think most people would. However, when John Hardin is rolling and they have that explosive back (Jeremy Harness a few years back) it is a thing of beauty to watch. Add in the play action pass and every play has the potential to score. I think it's exciting anyway but I am biased.
