Is the 43rd the toughest district in the state?

 

I think yes.

 

We know Lexington Catholic and Lafayette are two teams who are undisputedly top 25 in the state.

 

The Lexington Christian Academy/Lexington Catholic series has split in two intense games.

 

Now a streaking Paul Laurence Dunbar squad whose hosting the district only adds intrigue.

 

A well-coached Tates Creek team whose improving as of late and is still a Lexington-Fayette Public with lots of talent most years is just icing on the cake.

Without a doubt!!! LCA and PLD split, LC and LCA split, Lafayette is 1-2 against LC, TC split with LCA, the district tournament might be better then the 11th region tournament this year!

Not sure what district but Butler, Western, Doss, Desales & Iroquois this year is as tough as any.

Actually I am too lazy to do it but someone take the Cantrall ratings of the Top 4 teams in a district and add them up and highest score wins.

OK, so I was bored this weekend and put the Cantrall computer ratings on a spreadsheet to see where the toughest and easiest districts in the state are located. The toughest districts are generally in the Louisville and Lexington areas, while the easiest districts generally appear to be in far Eastern KY and far Western KY.

Not really fair to the 4th. Christian Fellowship doesn't compete in District play or the tournament. Without them that is actually a pretty strong District.

Good point. Wasn't familiar with Christian Fellowship. Deleting them gives the 4th an average of 61.30, good for 17th toughest district. Looking over the results again, I noticed two other schools that might be in the same situation as Christian Fellowship, but don't know for sure--Covington Latin in the 35th and Riverside Christian in the 55th. If these latter two schools are excluded for the same reasons, then the 35th (Beechwood, Covington Catholic, Holy Cross, Covington Holmes) becomes the 8th toughest district and the 55th district moves from 2nd weakest to middle of the pack.
