Nelson Co names head coach

Featured Replies

Nelson Co HS has named Bart Bruner of St. Xavier and Louisville Southern as its new head coach. Coach Bruner is a program builder and he will be successful in rebuilding the Cardinal team. Congratulations to Coach Bruner and to Nelson Co HS.

Congratulations to Coach Bruner and those young men at Nelson County. It is finally time for them to move on and focus and getting better and having a productive spring ball. This job will take time, but they have hired a committed man with great character to lead them. ;)

Committed? How long did he stay at Southern?

Onward and upward.

Coach Bruner did a lot of good things at Southern during his short stay. He is a good motivator and a player's coach, should not have a problem finding the kids that want to play for him. Hope he can cut through some of the political trappings at Nelson Co.

That drive from Louisville is going to get old. He is not moving his wife is a lawyer for LG and E.

Is this confirmed??

His not moving to Nelson County would be surprising. It would seem that living in the Bardstown area would be one of the attractions to this job. It seems to be a great community. If that is the case the drive probably will get old, but if he is willing to make the sacrifice it won't be an issue.

Is that Cheryl?

He could live in the Fern Creek area and have a 30 minute drive or less. Not a bad drive at all and it beats the sitting in the parking lot called I-65 and I-264 for rush hour. Nelson County continues to grow and has alot of the amenities you don't normally see in smaller rural towns, a SUPER WAL-MART! and a big Lowe's.

Word is were getting a Cracker Barrell, too!

Met Coach Bruner today. Kind of wiry with sharp features, looked like a small Marine. Kids were all pretty excited, something good to see on County's campus these days. I've been overly critical of Nelson's administration and have forgotten about the kids. Time to stop. Hope Coach Bruner can right the ship and gets full support for whatever plans he has.

Good things coming out of Nelson winter work out program.. The kids appear to really like Coach Bruner.... I understand the participation is almost double..
