PC is a very good club. I don't know what the numbers were from the line but IMO that is where PC won the game. Elliott is very good at getting to the line and converting. I understand that one of there players recently broke his hand in practice which hurts them from a depth perspective.

 

Franklin Co. was once again close to a higher rated team and with 4 minutes to go this game could have gone either way. Franklin missed three open shots within 5 feet down the stretch as well as key free throws.

 

Chambers and Straw did a nice job against Elliott but in the end the big guy got the job done.

 

PC has great fan support and I will be pulling for them at Rupp should they repeat as 10 Region champs, but with all due respect I beleive there are 5 to 6 teams in the 11th that are better than Pendleton County.

Most of PCs foul shots were 2 shot fouls(1-3 shot foul) being fouled in the act of shooting.

FC fouls were 1 and 1 which they usually missed on the front end. You need to check on how many fouls were committed not fouls shot. Plus FC was intentionally fouling at the end of the game when PC was in double bonus.

It takes 6 fouls to put you to the line. Unless it is a shooting foul. So when PC is fouling on the floor FC did not get to shoot. Most of PC fouls were on the floor. FC was in bonus in both halves. FC had at least 9-10 non-shooting fouls.

PC was in foul trouble all night. 1 starter fouled out, 2 others with 4, and 1 with 3.

A lot of FCs foul were commented by their subs from the JV team.

 

I guess FC was just lucky that PC had a bad free throw shooting night. For PC to miss 17 fouls shots is a fluke. We had 1 player who was 0-8 and that doesn't happen very often.

If PC had home court advantage the game would not have been this close. 4/5ths of our players being in foul trouble is not home court advantage.

Franklin County is a good solid team.

They are quick and they were not afraid to run

with PC. If they could have made the first shot of the bonus and shot

a little better than 50% from the foul line it could have been

a different ending to this game.

Good win for the Cats tonight. But I also want to give Franklin some credit tonight. They have a pretty solid team. However, while they go 10-12 deep, in this case I dont think its a good idea to play that many. The coach doesnt allow some of his players to get into much of a rhythm.

 

This team going 10-12 deep is very deceiving because at least 4 of them were off the JV team. Our JV team beat their JV. We could pull a least 5 more players off our bench to match this number. That would have made us 13 deep.

FC had 3 JV players in the game at the same time. All they did at that time was foul. I know playing a lot of players might be a good game plan against inferior teams, but PC is well conditioned to play with 6-7 players baring foul trouble. Saying you can good 10-12 deep, but your numbers drop of terribly is not a deep team.JMO

I wasn't sure what Dustin had, so I didn't post it. I love how fans think that number of fouls committed equal to number of fouls shot. Some fans never take into consideration of intentional fouls at the end of the game. Those will add up fast especially when in the double bonus or you hit the front end of a 1 and 1.

To Pc fans don't look past Harrison County their on a roll here lately, and Deming will have to play as hard as they did last night against Bracken County when we face Nicholas County, so hopefully, we'll see you in the championship ready to play against the number 1 team, IMO, in the region and hope it is a Deming/Pendleton County will be a good matchup. As I look at the old District matchups we've had in the Tournaments past their some history there and maybe some magic will be there for both teams. :devil: :thumb:

When PC is on top of thier game they are right up there in the state, thus putting them at the same level, if not better than the Scott County's and Station's of the world.

 

Franklin's big men did a solid job last night, but after hearing the stats, I would have to give the big man advantage to Belcher and Elliott.

 

Elliott had 25 pts, 13 boards while Belcher had 13 and 11.

Chambers had 10 and 7 while Straw had 11 and 6.

 

Franklin has two solid big men, some jet quick guards and they throw in some good shooters to round out the lineup. They are solid, and are my sleeper in the 11th.

Pendleton County goes back to back seasons without losing a game at home. Last home loss was December 2003 to Campbell County.

Good post Birdman. That is now 24 in a row at home for PC. 29 in a row agaisnt 10th region opponents. 19 in a row overall.

In responding to post number 20, catsin05 and Sharp bring up interesting points with regard to depth. There are folks from Franklin County that think the coach rotates too many players. I believe rhythm can be a problem at times. I think the reason Coach Chalk rotates so many players is due to the fact that he is committed to playing full court pressure man to man defense for the majority of every game. If players are giving maximum effort in that type of defense I don't care how conditioned a team is, you need to rotate 9 to 10 players minimum. This style of defense will also consistently result in foul differentials as seen by last nights game. Franklin County plays in the toughest Region in the State and I think the coach's defensive strategy is one that he believes will give him the best chance to win games in the 11th.

 

Chalk is doing a good job bringing respectability back to a program that spiraled to rock bottom after Gary Moore quit. It is not an easy task, especially in the 11th Region.

 

I personnally enjoyed attending the game last night. The gym was packed, the atmosphere was great, and we witnessed two teams giving maximum effort.

Oh, and the folks at Franklin County have alot of respect for Gary Dearborn, principal at PC, his roots go back to the Franklin Co school system where he coached some very successful FCHS football teams before the schools split in 1980. Gary understands the big picture.
