Nky's best girl's AAU teams 6th-8th

Featured Replies

Just want to see who everybody is gonna watch this coming girl's AAU season.

6th grade girls in NKY would the #1 Royals (Macke) I would assume that they would have everyone back from last year.

Legacy, Shining Star. I do know that Shining Star 6th girls will have a new coach this upcoming season.

I would say 8th grade would be Legacy..

7th grade best girls AAU team is Shining Stars, by head and shoulders. Composed of best players from Conner and Highlands, far and away the two best school teams in NKY, they are a state powerhouse and should easily win the D1 state championship.

Royals 6th are even further ahead than their nearest competition... they are ranked 2nd in the country, and recently retired from playing in boys AAU leagues after going undefeated in 5 straight BOYS AAU LEAGUES and winning their last 70 games in a row against boys (combination of unhappy parents and change in ball size prompted the move). Their only loss over the past 7 months, since losing the national title game, was to the 7th grade Shining Stars.

I know the 8th grade Legacy will be pretty much be playing a college exposure tourney schedule for most of this season.

The 7th grade Shining Stars is a very good young team. A lot of skill and bball knowledge on their squad. They aren't big, but they are fast, skilled and the bigs they do have are strong. They make up for height with strength, quickness and outside shooting. They are filled with names to look for in the future. NKY bball should be VERY strong in the upcoming years with the Legacy 8th grade, the Shining Stars 7th and some of the Royals filtering into the programs. I say some of the Royals because I think 3-4 of the Royals are from Cincy.

How many players from the Royals are from Cincy?

Roster for the Shining Stars

Courtney Hurst - Conner

Savannah Jordan - Conner

Maddie Burcham - Conner

Morgan Coffey - Highlands

Chloe Jansen - Highlands

Lauren Schwartz - Gray

Juliet McGregor - Ockerman

I've seen that 7th grade stars team play and they are a very talented group of young ladies. Nky girls basketball will continue to improve for years to come.

While we're on this subject, the 7th grade Shining Stars team is having tryouts this Sunday from 12:30-1:30 at Walton Verona High School. You can PM me if you have any questions.

The 7th grade girls Shining Stars AAU Basketball team is looking for a couple players. They are having tryouts tomorrow (Sunday, Feb 2 at Walton Verona High School). If you can't make the tryout tomorrow, PM me and I can see about getting your daughter evaluated.

As mentioned above by many, this team is very good and competes nationally. They are the defending AAU D1 state champs. Some of the girls on this team have won it 3 years in a row. So if you have a talented 7th grader from the tri-state area, please get in touch with me.

The Royals at this point are made up of 7 players, 5 from Kentucky and 2 from Cincinnati:

1. Piper Macke, Highlands

2. Maddie Scherr, Ockerman/Ryle

3. Maggie Jones, Twenhofel/Simon Kenton

4. Laylay Chames, Holmes

5. Kennedy Harris, Somerset

6. Makira Cook, Cincinnati

7. Nevaeh Dean, Cincinnati

They also have two part time players from Kentucky:

8. Shelby Calhoun, Louisville

9. Camille Hagen, St. Pius/Notre Dame

The Royals finished second in the AAU national tournament last year, and have improved by adding a lot of size. They will be playing in the D1 state and national tournaments, where they will have a very real chance to become the first ever national champions from the Commonwealth, and they will also play up in the 7th grade D2 state tournament, and possibly the D2 7th national tournament.

It would be great to see them play up in the D2 National. However, it can be very competitive. The Stars team above, finished 5th in D2 and were by far the smallest team in the entire tournament. There is a huge difference in one year at the Nationals. As 6th graders, I don't think we saw a team without at least one legit skilled 6 footer and most had multiples...as well as other huge kids on the same teams. It's crazy how big they grow them outside of this area!!! Someone just give us one kid with size!!!! We are looking and if we find one or two, we'd probably go D1 nationals. Keep in mind our tallest kids are 5'5" maybe and play guards for their school teams. But the kids play hard and refuse to lose! Love that team!

Rumor on the street is that 6th Grade Royal had 4 girls leave and go to play for Angels. Anyone have the scoop on this? Is it true?

Anyone hear anything about the Royals 6th grade girls?

......

I know it says 6th - 8th, but has anyone locally beaten the Girls 5th Grade Warriors team? I have seen them twice in the last month and they are very, very good.
