What are some of your thoughts on the best defenders in the 16th.

I think that Morgan County has the two best on the ball defenders in Devan Adkins and Derrick Young.

Adkins and Young from Morgan Co.

 

Matt Thomas (Ashland Blazer)

Thomas Tolliver (Raceland)

Matt Martin (Rowan Co.)

 

These three are excellent defenders as well.

Alex Barker is a good defender

Russell just lost the best defender in the region. HANDS DOWN, the best is Kasey Clark. Kasey can shut down the best of scorers on any given night. He held one of the state's leading scorers last year, Zach Gillium of Greenup, to 3 FG in the districts last year. He has continually been assigned the other team's best player and night after night he continually contains them. But since he is no longer with the team (this year), I would have to say the best defender would be Matt Thomas of Ashland. He has great hands and quickness and he moves his feet well. There are alot of great defenders in the area but if I had to pick one it would be Matt Thomas.

You mean that Russell lost the most physical defensive player in the region. The reason Zach Gillium only scored 3 FG is he was dizzy from the head butt that he received. I will agree with you on Matt Thomas. He is smart and so quick. His length helps him contest shots. I would also have to mention Thomas Tolliver from Raceland. He is a little undersized, but uses his quickness and strength. Barker from Fairview is another one of those undersized defenders. You have to respect the little man.

Headbutt? BLAH BLAH BLAH. Gillium only scored 3 FG because Kasey was in his face all night. If I remember correctly, Zach was the one who was called for a technical for shoving Kasey. Observer, your not still mad about that game, are you? :ylsuper:

Seems like mostly everyone agrees that Thomas is top dog now. While there are other good defenders, Matt is probaly the best IMO.

Thomas was also imstramental in holding Owens to a low shooting percentage in their blowout win earlier this year.

How many did Ownes have in this game? Could the low shooting percentage be from just missing? I was at this game and Owens could not throw one in the river this game. Thomas is a great defender, but I dont think he is tops in the region.I think Cannoy is just as good of a defender as Thomas.IMO
