Even with their bench as short as it is?

Their bench is as short as everyone else's. Only need 7 to be effective if your boys know what they are doing.

Just don't know if they can survive the drop off they experience outside of their top 4 or so once they have to go to the bench if they are playing a team like a Ballard or PRP.

That's valid question. We may find out one day. After seeing Trinity and KCC I think KCC is better. Justice and Hall are juniors but they are thick kids. Christon has great size also. I look forward to seeing KCC against a better team than Henry Clay.

Knott County Central's biggest question mark, in my eyes, is how they'll be able to handle the athleticism and grind that the top tier teams are able to throw at them.

1-7, they aren't very athletic, and don't have lots of size (outside of Hall and Justice, who is big for his position).

Really like Christon's game, but kind of wonder what's up with him at the same time. Two or so years ago, he was a huge part of what they did and was one of the main cogs that made them go. Now, he's faded in the background somewhat. I don't know if that's a product of the team getting better on the whole and his role diminishing in a correlated manner, but at the same time, I've been looking at box scores and wondering about other explanations as well, like whether or not he's: not improved (or possibly even regressed), been playing hurt or at least somewhat banged up, been doing more of the little things like defending, deflecting balls, taking charges, etc. that don't show up in the box scores, or maybe some combination thereof.

Don't get me wrong, the kid is still a major part of their team and is one of their most valuable players, but there's been some disparity between what I expected and what we've seen as far as the quantifiable, empirical stats that we're fed on KCC go.

If Knott is going to be one of the five best teams in the state, they need Christon and need him to play a huge role (defensive stopper, rebounding, athleticism, size/speed combo to make up for some things they might lack). To me, if they are going to be one of the elite, they are playing at their best (or somewhere close to it) and have 3 players that are just indispensable (Justice, Hall, and Christon).

Henry Clay is a good, albeit highly erratic, team. But put the Patriots in a game with someone like most hold up there with a Ballard, Trinity, Scott County, etc.

Now ask who from KCC will take what from them and who from KCC will step up when the other team puts a guy Hall's size on him and has a guy capable of slowing Justice (like Trinity could do with Spalding and by putting Ivory/Owens on Justice and making him earn it all). Solving that puzzle requires Christon being able to step up and do some real damage.

I don't doubt the transfer from Bath County can't light it up and has a shot that has to be respected, but that's still basically playing 4-on-5 (i.e., the four Knott Central offensive threats, Christon included, that I can name versus the defense). Unless Sammons and/or the "5th starter" (or some combination thereof) is more than I'm expecting from him, then I think Christon and Hall probably determine just how far this team goes.

If KCC wants to win state, methinks them getting a good draw would a greater part of the equation than it would for any other team. I just don't see them getting to Rupp and having to play three or four games where they beat the 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th, and/or 11th and surviving.

KCC isn't a top 5 team. You will find this out if they meet PRP or Newcath in the finals of the Lexcath tourney.

That's what I hope to see. They should make the finals as log as Hall is fine.

All I know is that I expected a much better game today and looking at how Henry Clay had played against Trinity and Henderson County and to watch KCC treat them like a JV team was very impressive. KCC was bigger, faster, stronger and smarter than HC today. They demolished them and I don't think anyone saw that coming today.
