I did not realize Taylor had been suspended. Do you know how long he is out?

He missed the East Jessamine and South Oldham games for being ejected against Wayne County.

They had lost to Russell County and Wayne County before his ejection. After he came back from the ejection they have defeated Bullitt East and Doss. Those are great wins. Very impressive.

Definately impressive wins!

If you saw these games, Lincoln was in control the whole way against Bullitt East. And they dominated Doss as it was over 20 much of the game. And don't forget that they started this roll with a win AT West Jessamine, a team that some feel may be #2 in the region. And winning there is always very difficult. West is easily 10 points better at home.

I have watched Lincoln the last several days and Timmy Taylor ripped through both the Bullitt East and Doss guards. You try to pressure him and he will make you pay every time. Period. And that's exactly what both of those teams did. The opposing guards simply could not control him. You try to play up-tempo, and you're going to lose there as well. Taylor is the only player I've seen that can have less than 10 points yet completely dominate the game. PURE point guard. Just ask the coaches of those two teams.

Lincoln was 2 for 28 from three in their opening night loss to Russell County yet still almost won. I heard that the Wayne game was close throughout but don't know that to be true. And, I believe it was at Wayne and I don't think the Miami Heat could win there! Not sure that Wayne would beat either of the 2 teams Lincoln just beat. Perhaps so but could they in such convincing fashion?

If they get them at a neutral site.....

I have saw both teams play this year first and Lincoln is not on the same level as Wayne right now. Unless something changes and that can happen, everyone is playing for second, and thats not from a Wayne fan. Take off those red and blue glasses. Lincoln 4/5 in that region.

First isn't a Lincoln fan.

PurplePride is correct. I'm NOT a Lincoln fan!

Lincoln fell to Lex Catholic tonight in the championship game of the Fort Harrod Classic. They led most of the way and even had a 4 point lead with about a minute left but didn't close the deal. They destroyed Doss who was a top 10 team and who had just beaten PRP, a top 5 team according to some. And Bullitt East, who some have in their top 25. And led Catholic, ranked #2 in the 11th in the preseason, most of the night. They clearly demonstrated that they can compete with the elite in those regions. Based on what I saw this weekend, I wouldn't count them out against any team.

I'll also add that the PRP team that Doss beat handled Newport Central Catholic tonight.

Lincoln has a great coach. Taylor is a good PG. They may be better than Boyle now that I think about it, so make them 3/4.......

I'll likely have them second in the next rankings.

You say Lincoln is better than Boyle yet you have them at 3rd or 4th. They've beaten East handily and West at their place. Curious to know the 1 or 2 other teams you have in front of them (other than Wayne)?

Wayne and West Jessamine. I think they are tied with Boyle Co. Not sure they can match up with SW either. Maybe be a better team, but match ups sometime trump.

Seeing what Lincoln has done in the last week it is hard not to have them at #2.

Wayne and West Jessamine. I think they are tied with Boyle Co. Not sure they can match up with SW either. Maybe be a better team, but match ups sometime trump.

So Lincoln beat West Jess at West and you still feel that West is above them? As far as matching up with Southwest, in what regard? And I completely agree regarding match-ups being a key, but they beat #8 Doss that had more size AND athleticism than Southwest. The outcome was never in question. Why do you still feel that SW is a match-up problem that they couldnt handle? For that matter, given Wayne's line-up, how do you feel that they can match up with Southwest yet Lincoln can't?

If you look at Wayne County's "size" (actual height & weight), they have trouble matching up with a lot of teams. However once you observe them play against teams against whom you would think they would be overmatched, you discover it doesn't play out that way. Their hustle & rebounding may startle you, even against "big teams". And of course they can flat shoot it from the perimeter. So long as they come prepared to play most opponents will have their hands full.

That being said, from my one observation of Southwestern (plus reading line scores), it appears to me that Coach Wright is getting a better effort out this year's squad despite having lost two elite players (Kapinga & Collier). Right now Lincoln, West Jessamine & Boyle + SW look to be the biggest challengers to Wayne and who has the best shot at dethroning them will have to play out over the next two months. Lots of things can happen when these teams get another 20 games under their belt.

In regards to the match up with SW, Lincoln does not have enough brawn down low to deal with SW bigs and do not shoot it well enough to make it into a three point contest. Taylor is not as quick as SW PG, so the SW PG will control the transition game and cause the mis matches that Lincoln cannot defend. SW also gets back well as to take away the transition break that Jeff loves. Get it into a half court game on the offensive side for Lincoln against SW and I like SW.

Like the above poster said, Wayne has to many scoring options so the match up stuff favors any team that has that many scoring options. Wayne is gonna be scary good by February. Better get them soon.

Dark horse team that could pull some upsets later in year is Casey.

Boyle, Lincoln and Mercer are schools that have under achieved the past few years with the talent they have had. I see nothing changing.
