December 17, 201312 yr Author I don't believe there could be any argument, even if valid, that HB would accept. Futurecoach is right. He is an average coach, no where near the worst. The Bengals seem to play awful in the national spotlight, is that coaching? I don't know how you would quantify that. It probably is a factor, but not the only one. My brother and I discuss Marvin all the time, He wanted him fired after 2010. I still believe he should stay. They are still very much in the hunt. This is the NFL and is very unpreditable. The difference between 1 and 32 is not huge. We have had much worse. Some may not think he is the worst, but I'd love for anyone to show me a HC who has been with a team for 10 years with a losing record and 0 playoff wins. I'll wait (he had a losing record at the start of this season.

Because the worst head coaches get fired before they even get to 10 years if they aren't winning. Don't blame the coach for the owner keeping him. As I said he is exactly what his career record is, which is average.
December 18, 201312 yr In what way? I am not disagreeing. I am just curious about the specific reason why you say this. Running off a 7 minute scoring drive by running the play clock down in the 2nd half. Gruden/Marvin electing not to try to score at the end of the half. No sense of urgency whatsoever in the play calling.

No sense of urgency whatsoever in the play calling. We have seen the same stuff now from two different coordinators when it comes to end of halfs. Both of them seemed to play it pretty safe most of the time. There is one common demoninator in both, and thats Marvin Lewis. So its safe to say Marvin probably has a say in what types of plays he wants in those situations.
