December 4, 201312 yr Author More interested in hearing this one than the car story. Probably more boring than anything you are imagining. I was a scheduled witness for the prosecution (a Lexington bank) in a trial against a client of mine. I showed up and took a seat in the courtroom and enjoyed the jury selection, opening statements, etc. I was probably in there for an hour and a half or so. Then the lead attorney for the prosecution noticed I was in the courtroom and motioned for me to leave. I had no idea I wasn't supposed to be there and I figured if I wasn't then it was his job to explain that to me ahead of time. I just blew him off. I wasn't going to leave the courtroom on his suggestion without knowing why, lol. A few minutes later, after I started ignoring his attempts to get my attention, he interrupted the proceedings and announced to the judge that there was a material witness present who wasn't supposed to be. So the judge asked who, and he ratted me out, to which the judge promptly asked me to stand. Then he admonished me and told me to remove myself from his courtroom. I gotta say, that was much more exciting than just waiting in the hallway, which is what I had to do the next two days. :irked: Then late on day 3, they settled the case without ever calling me to the witness stand. I was never so mad in my life. I wasted 3 days and I wanted to testify dang it. It was miserable.
December 4, 201312 yr I had no idea what hookah paraphenalia looked like or hookah was. So when my youngest came home from college to reside in our basement, I went down there (I hardly ever did, but needed to get something out of the fridge down there) and saw this bong like thing with tubes all over. There were ashes in the top of it. I didn't know what it was, but my experiences from college life thirty years ago told me it was something he shouldn't be doing. So I went upstairs and told my wife and she came down and thought the same as I did. The smell really wasn't that bad and didn't smell like marajuana, but I was sure it was something he shouldn't be doing. When he came home, we confronted him and he said it was hookah. Of course I said "what kind of new drug is that?" He said it's not a drug, but kinda like tobacco. He told me there were hookah bars all over Louisville (he went to Sullivan Culinary School) and it was legal. I said yeah right and came upstairs and looked it up and he was right. I was relieved to say the least, but thought, why in the heck don't I hear about these things. I am not sure my wife still believes hookah is legal.
