Especially when everything is computerized until final landing...unless for some reason they put the wrong airport into the computer but then you still have Air Traffic Control......just seemed odd, can't wait to hear how the screw up occurred.

 

It happens every now and then. If the conditions are right pilots often opt for a visual approach and if they spot they wrong runway and ATC doesn't catch it, well, this happens. Can't say if that's what happened here, but they obviously weren't on an ILS approach.

Not surprisingly, they have brought in a new crew.

I hope that new pilot is able to get over what happened over Macho Grande....and poor George Zip!
