Basketball season for 2013/2014 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from St. Patrick? Remember, please be constructive.

Note - a blurb in today's Maysville paper indicated that because of low roster numbers there had been some doubt as to whether the Saints would field a team this season. Indications are that a team will be fielded but that a limited (12 to 15 games) schedule will be played.

Has the deadline passed to file your schedule and will the school be fined for the games it doesn't play? I noticed 23 games on their schedule and the LI story says they plan to only play 12 to 15. Will they only field a varsity team with no JV? Wow, first baseball, now girls basketball.

New coach this season as well. Where did Chambers go?

Wonder if this is an enrollment issue, or nobody wants to play ball? I know soccer only had 13 or 14.

New coach is Beth Nolder Garrison. She teaches one of the grade school classes.

I see that St Pat has already cut a half dozen games from their schedule. I hate that they cut the Lewis County game. That was the one game I could have made it to. :(

St. Patrick Lady Saints Beth Garrison says it was the girls' decision to play a varsity schedule. 15 games plus the All "A" are scheduled.

^ Interesting. I thought that those decisions ultimately came down to school administration (whether or not to field a team).

Exactly what I thought.

I'm really not surprised that they let the girls decide. The administration at SPHS the last few years hasn't made some of the best decisions, and that is probably why enrollment is down, except they will tell you it is just "the economy". Might as well let a bunch of teenagers decide. lol

Aren't there fines to the KSHAA after a certain date if you cut games?
