Cantrall Ratings

Guess that just shows how much the state is down this year if a team that has 8 losses is a legit #3 team?

Or maybe is just shows how balanced it is this year.

Yeah, poorly balanced.

So it seems to me that if you do run into a team that is weak

it is best to beat them by 80, run the score up, if you want to stay

at the top of ratings.

Or do what Pendleton co is doing in the tenth region and give everyone

a chance to play and get some experience on the floor.

And drop out of the top 5.

Ithink it is a unfair that Pendleton is at the #8 spot beacuse they have only lost to ONE in state team. And the other Loss to a nationally ranked team SL Vashon!

Games against out-of-state teams count neither for or against a team in the Cantrall Ratings.

In the Cantrall ratings, strength of schedule is strong and the 10th doesn't rank very highly. Truthfully told the bottom of the 10th is weak.

But aren't their (Pendleton Cty) only to loses to South Laurel (defending state champs) and St Louis Vashon. (nationally ranked). They have beaten Mason Cty, Holmes, Brossart, NCC and several others that are tradionally strong basketball programs and several others that escape me. These formula based polls are about as silly as some of the ones that coaches/sportswriters throw out there. Good for conversation and that's about it.

Everyone says that your record is a big part of where you are ranked but PC has the best record of any of the top 20 are only 8th. PC has played some tough teams this year and lost 0 in the region, this to me doesn't explain why the fall everytime they play and WIN.

GO WILDCATS

Because Cantrall doesn't make any sense.

Thats the truth Wildcat14

Like I said above, the Cantrell Ratings place a premium on margin of victory and strength of schedule. Their last two games were against pretty weak teams, and that may have hurt them in the computer's eye. Beat their next two, which are significantly tougher teams, and I bet they move back up.

But really, who cares? It's freakin' computer rankings. Anyone who knows anything about HS ball in Ky knows Pendleton is a top-five team.

My problem is that PC has beat everyone on a pretty tough schedule for the last couple of months and all they do is drop in the ratings. If nothing else it gives people something to talk about.

You can't put to much into these rankings. In 2 weeks they really don't mean anything.
