In case you are motivated to help, I saw this in the Enquirer this morning:

 

MONEY BEING RAISED TO HELP OFFICIAL: The Northern Kentucky Officials Association in conjunction with the Bank of Kentucky is raising money to help official Chris Vier with medical bills after he had his right leg amputated just below the knee due to infection following three surgeries he needed after suffering a severe leg/ankle injury while officiating the Northern Kentucky East-West All-Star Game on June 6.

I did hear about this last Saturday. Sad situation. Prayers for Chris.

I posted this info (all but his name) in the all star game thread. Its truely a very sad situation.

Wow, I had no idea it was that bad.

 

Chris is a great guy, I hope he recovers soon.

Such a sad situation. Hate to see an injury like this when he was only doing something he loved.

Post-op infections are rampant. There is no hospital in this area that is free from staph infection and/or MRSA. My grandmother beat throat cancer at 88 and when she went in to have her feeding tube removed, she got staph and died from that instead. My cousin was in an adjacent operating room the very same day, getting his ACL and MCL repaired and nearly lost his leg to staph. Scary stuff.

 

Anyone know how old Chris is?

With some hard work and widely available prosthetic technology I could see someone returning to officiating after this type of amputation. Would certainly be great to see.
