NKY Freshmen Standings as of 10/8

Featured Replies

Large division:

Covcath 6-0

Ryle 6-0

Simon Kenton 4-2

Dixie Heights 3-2

Highlands 3-3

Conner 2-3

Beechwood 2-4

Boone County 2-4

Cooper 1-5

Campbell County 0-6

Three weeks of football remain, including this week, to determine the one through four seeds. Covcath and Ryle sit comfortably in the top two positions. They'll battle for the 1-2 spots on 10/16 at CCHS @ 6p.

SK and Dixie battle tomorrow evening at SK 6p to shed more light on the 3-4 seed picture. Eight teams competing for 4 slots is going to make for some fun football :thumb:.

Good luck & stay healthy!!!

I don't think the freshman league is a four game playoff. It is #1 vs. #2 for the title. Perhaps #3 and #4 play each other but the winner doesn't play for the title. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I was misinformed then. Was told 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3 and winners for the title.

Well poop then :ohbrother: . Maybe something to consider down the road?

Would there be issues with the # of games played at the Freshman level if there was a 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3 and winners for the title?

yes

The Freshman must be done before the varsity playoff begin and I believe they are limited to 10 games

I believe Highlands plays Ryle Wed night and Cov Cath takes on Boone Co Thu.

Not overlooking their opponents but next week should be a dandy.

It used to be set up that way but it changed, maybe 3 years ago? As others have noted above, it is due to the schedule and requirements to be done before the varsity playoffs.

Looking at the records above, I am going to assume Simon Kenton and Dixie's two losses are to Ryle and Cov Cath. If that is true, barring a big upset I think it is Ryle vs. CCH for the title. I don't think there is anyone else (including Highlands) that could beat Ryle or CCH.

Good point...they play a nine game season. They could either drop a scrimmage prior to week one. Or play the semis on a Tuesday and the finals on Saturday in the same week. And still be under the end of the season deadline per C-BOYs point.

The top 2 seeds format is used in middle school as well. It only made sense for it to be expanded to 4 for the freshmen. Now I get to have a few words with the incorrect 4 seed source :sour:. The upside is you all know the standings going into tomorrow and Thursdays games.

Thanks for setting us all straight and I must apologize to my son who said I had it wrong about the 4 seeds. Wishing us all a safe and exciting next 3 weeks of football to wrap up a great season!:thumb:

Updated to include game through Thursday 10-10-13

Covcath 7-0

Ryle 7-0

Simon Kenton 5-2

Dixie Heights 3-3

Highlands 3-4

Conner 3-3

Beechwood 2-5

Boone County 2-5

Cooper 2-5

Campbell County 0-7

I believe that with the victories of both Ryle and CovCath this week, will give us a CovCath Vs. Ryle Championship game for the Freshmen, no matter how the last two game end.

Even if both Ryle and CovCath lost both of their last two games (can't happen as they play each other next Thursday) both CovCath and Ryle beat SK so the worst that can happen is that one of them could tie SK but with each beating SK the tie breaker of head to head would still give us a Ryle Vs. CovCath Championship game!

Congrats to both teams Coaches and players!

When and where will the Championship "Scrimmage" be held next week? Thanks in advance...

The game was originally scheduled to be played at CovCath on Wednesday Oct. 16th but due to CovCath not having lights, the game was changed to Ryle and Ryle chose to play the game on Thursday Oct. 17th. Kick off is 6pm.

Middle school format is completely different. All 7 teams make playoffs, with the top seed getting the bye in rd 1, 2 vs 7, 6 vs 3, 4 vs 5, and going on from there.

Why is Scott not included? They are 5A

Why is Scott not included? They are 5A

Because they do not play a Freshmen schedule. What Scott does play, due to low numbers, is play a Froshmore schedule.
