Unarmed man shot by police in North Carolina

Sure looked like you thought it was a viable option. And if you weren't there or don't know every detail how do you know what would "stop the threat"? I'm not saying 1 would or wouldn't have worked...I don't know.

My point remains the same. 10 is excessive. No justification for it.

That's obvious. 1 was probably excessive, since he was charged.

From the article, the accident was so bad he apparantly had to climb out through the shattered back windshield...Wouldn't surprise me at all if he was concussed or disoriented.

Or in shock. I was in a bad accident before and I was out of my car (car flipped numerous times and ended up on its side and I climb out the broken driver side window without even realizing it was shattered) and in the road panicked before I even know whats going on. My heart kept on beating faster and faster and before I know it its speeding out of control. It puts you in a state of shock and panic before you realize whats going on.
