It was a numbers game. Beechwood hung as tough as they could in this one but Simon Kenton's 50 player squad and depth wore the Tigers down. Beechwood had a 6-0 lead with the ball last in the first half. Then they fumbled and Simon Kenton recovered. The Tigers gave up a long run and misjudged a long pass and in the last minute of the half SK scored to tie it at 6.

 

The second half, Beechwood was clearly fatigued from the start of the half on. The heat and almost all Beechwood's players playing every play were too much. They had 3 of their best players on the sideline and Simon Kenton took control of the game. The Tigers fought hard and showed a lot of courage with a late TD drive but it was too much to overcome. Final score 27-12.

 

Simon Kenton's RB, #28, looked strong running the ball. Someone help us out with his name. The QB was solid. Simon Kenton's line on both sides controlled the line of scrimmage. Aidan Justice looked good at QB for Beechwood and Lucas Benson had several nice catches.

It sounds as if Simon has it rolling as a program. As for Beechwood, glad to see them sticking it out with the big boys, hopefully they do it every year and not just years where they have a superior class.

I agree with your post Guru. I was impressed with Simon Kenton. They have a lot of players, very good size and they look well coached.

 

On Beechwood freshman, I think they will keep playing freshman ball. That is how they build depth in their program and get kids experience. They were competitive with Simon Kenton even in the heat and missing key players, which hurts you a lot when you only have 18 players.

SK's program is probably in the best shape it has ever been in. With over 140 kids in the program from 9-12 they are creating a program that doesn't rely on superstars or the occasional really good class. With that said next year will really tell the story as they will lose a lot out of this years class.

Is there a reason the game was played on a Saturday as opposed to a Thursday night? Glad to hear the program at SK is looking good top to bottom.

Tanner Green is the QB for the Freshman but will have to compete with Racke next year for that spot.

Elijah Jackson had the long run for the touchdown. Trent Kincaid had the long TD pass and the pick 6 and Luke Vance took the screen pass in from about 30 yards out.
