Instead of making a team possibly play 4 games in 72 hours, why can't they set up the Sweet 16 like the All "A" and play the finals on Sunday?

 

The region 12 and region 6 teams play at 8:00pm Thursday, 8:00pm Friday, possibly 11:30am Saturday and 8:00pm Saturday night.

I have heard this topic debated before and alot of people bring up cost as the issue. I think it would make for a much better tournament haveing two rested teams play in the finals.

It would be a lot more fair for those teams playing the late games all week.Whats one more night in town,would be good for everyone and especially the teams involved.But we have done it this way for a hundred years can't change now!!!!!

It will only be expenses for two teams though. I don't understand why they don't do it that way. :confused:

That could be the only good reason, IMO. However, I can't see it outweighing the positives of a Sunday final. Not sure about others but I know that I'd drive to Lexington for the finals on Sunday but not Saturday night, if I already wasn't there.

You've hit the nail on the head. As P Diddy once said, "It's all about the benjamin's baby!"

And we know the KHSAA is not going to pay anymore than they have to.

One alternative would be to play all of the 1st round games on Thursday, start at 9:00 am and play until all games are finished (didn't they used to do this?), play the quarters on Friday, the semis on saturday and have a Sunday afternoon final. Just a thought.

Greatest shown in hoops, I think Barnam and Bailey hold the rights to the other term. :thumb:

I too think that they should keep it the way that it is. It's one of the great treasures that we have in Kentucky high school basketball that sets us apart from all the other states that do it wrong.
