Boyle County @ Tates Creek Scrimmage 8/15

That shouldn't read that they only had 1 pass play successful as in only 1 completion. That should read as that was their pass play that they would run.

Lol. Gotcha.....

The score of the varsity scrimmage was Boyle co. 31 Tates Creek 14. The coaches agreed to play 3 quarters under game type conditions with their varsity squads. The last quarter was for JV's. The only thing different from a regular game was the teams did not run back kick offs or punts to stay away from the injury factor.

Yep. Outside of Creek holding out there best 2 offensive players for the game. Tavon Dunn completely and RJ Taylor for about 50% of the game, ( who in half of the first half's time had 5 catches for 95 yards and a 65 yard TD). Creek could have put up a bunch of points, but opted not to show much with Dunbar in the stands. Was good work for both teams. Creek got what they needed out of the scrimmage. And not teams seemed injury free, at least no major game stopping injuries.

Boyle's soph QB looked very good both passing and running the ball. He is very athletic and seemed to make good decisions. He had to sit out spring practice because of an injury so he should improve more off this game. I think this game will be beneficial to both teams.

Yeah. I really liked that young mans game. Did a very good job running the team and threw a very strong and accurate ball. I enjoyed his play.

Creek rotated QBs and I think the SR. Played a little better yesterday. They rotated series, and I really liked the young Freshman QB Burke. He really did some nice things.....

Boyle co. by no means was really showing their total offensive or defensive package. As far as TC putting up a bunch of points I think if you look at their 2 scores, one was a nice catch and run, but the other was a completely missed assignment by a defensive back on the long TD pass. After that play Boyle's defense basically shut down the TC offense. Yes there were players out for both teams. This is common in football.

I understand what you are saying. And I'm sure Boyle didn't show everything. Creek purposely didn't do what they could have done the entire game. #19 WR had his way with the Boyle DBs and would have continued that if Creek wanted to exploit that. 5 catches 95 yards and a 65 yard TD, IN A HALF. Creek didn't play him but 50% of the plays, and didn't throw to him at all in the 2nd half ON PURPOSE. Also, holding out Tavon Dunn the 6'2 WR to play opposite of #19 would have added to the issues of stopping Creek.

But again, Creek went vanilla and didn't show much after a good half of football. Creek knows it can throw on teams without issue. What we anted to see was trying to establish more of a run game (still got work in that area) and stopping the run, (did a good job of).

No disrespect to Boyle who played solid. And I really like the Boyle QB. Creek got what it wanted out of the scrimmage and purposely didn't go at blatant mismatches due to Dunbar being in the stands. Liked the sportsmanship of both teams and was good, clean football.

I'd like to see the film to see the line at on both sides. I loved the Creek Pass Protection, wasn't as third with the run blocking.

Liked the Boyle scheme of running full house backfield, and running the play action boot with the combo route behind it. The underneath route was open all night. Was a nice play that Boyle went back to over and over and is a great teaching and learning tool for the Creek LB's.

Who played QB for TC?

You didn't get a straight answer to your question. While there was a QB rotation, the Senior (Jake Ryan) got the start and saw most the reps. Unless I'm missing something I'd say he will be Tates Creeks starter to open the season.

I would agree, the Senior did have better numbers and accounted for 2 TD passes (one of which he owes #19 a steak dinner for). But in all fairness, #4 had about 80 yards on 2 passing plays that were called back because of holding penalties on the line. I guess when you have a kid scrambling around and holding on to the ball for 15 seconds before letting fly you run that risk...

I agree... from what I saw, the pass protection was great, but Boyle County looked a little small up front on D... I was most impressed with the linebackers for Creek. They did a really good job at filling the gaps and stopping the run. Not for sure, but think it was #33, #10, #44... someone should give them their props if they know their names...
