1st Region Pre-Season Rankings by Teams and Players

Featured Replies

My first comment was that Boone was underrated. I have no angst against the McCracken kids. I just don't know if they can play together. The one I gave a pass to on all of this is Chumbler, just because he has won when it counted and his team has been to the regionals the last 2 years. His grandfather was a pretty good coach and he seems to have picked up a few things. On paper McCracken has the most talented team stat wise, no arguing that. But on the court, can they put those stats aside and play together. Can they put five players on the floor that will play defense and play together? If they can, they have three players in Chumbler, Burnett, and Stonecipher, who can get you 25 on any given night. If they can't, then I was right.

Unfortunately, with the passing of Joey Fosko there won't be any player and team rankings that will be more accurate than what he offered up every year in the First Region.

That is the truth. Can't argue with that. Joey knew and called the first region like no one else can.

Very true

You guys can make all the lists you want and argue about all the McCracken kids, but only one kid on this list has had over a dozen division 1 schools call about him.

That would be Skyler Hunter. I know because I took the calls. He played AAU for me and had a good AAU season. If he will stay aggressive instead, he'll be the best overall player in the region and he, Arnett, and Adams will carry Calloway to Rupp

Scribe, agree.

So true about Fosko. There is no replacement for him in Region 1. I would like to think whoever did these rankings would have called him and they wouldn't have been so screwy.

Coach Q, I agree with you Hunter is underrated. I got to watch Calloway several times and on a list of players with the most potential he is number 1. I happen to think Arnett is the best of the 3 on Calloway currently though. Maybe the most effective in the Region. They are definitely the Regional favorites at this point. I looked at some schedules the other day and they play McCracken the second week of the season. Will be interesting.

Yes, Mike is a great player and an even better young man. Pure post player and will dunk on anyone who gets in his way.

It seems we all agree that Hunter is underrated. I agree, he has the most potential in the region. As far as crowning Calloway as the regional champs, I'm not ready to do that yet. Graves is the defending champ with 3 of their best players returning. I think they will have something to say about that. I agree with Swishenator in the regard that I believe Arnett is the best player on Calloway right now. Hunter may pass him, but I don't think he has yet.

Word is that Hannon from St. Mary transferred to Graves. They will make them even better.

If that is true, then Graves is definitely the favorite.

Anyone ever find out who they consulted on this list? The more I think about it, its pretty much a deadlock at the top 3 spots with McCracken, Graves, and Calloway. I think Calloway and McCracken play early and Calloway may get them in the first one, but I think by seasons end McCracken will be the stronger team. McCracken will be deeper than anyone in the region hands down. They can go big or they can go fast. They can bring a lot of different looks to the court and make for some very tough match ups. I'm going to recant my statements on Burnett and Stonecipher because it is yet to be seen how they will play this year. They have never had the talent with them that they do now. I do know McCracken can be a very dangerous team if they all get it together.
