I am working up to a full report, trying to get my positive on.

 

Dixie, Scott, Conner and Boone.

Looked like Dixie was getting a little frustrated against Conner when the little brawl broke out and ended it. Dixie offense was struggling. Conner was up 4/5-1 at that point.

Scott - Pedestrian. Scott was decent, nothing negative per se, but then again nothing that makes you think the Eagles are going to be a force this year. But as we all know this is just 7 on 7.

 

Boone County - Not as sharp today as yesterday but they went with their #2 QB for the majority of the day and worked in different players at different positions. And to address the other thread and Boone in general, yes they have played press coverage in 7 on 7 play but look for a lot more variety when it counts. Like most teams, the Rebels are figuring out who can play and learning a new system.

 

Dixie - Not the same Dixie team as yesterday. They were emotional in warm-ups but again nothing like yesterday. Moore wasn't as sharp today but I maintain he is a D1 talent with a huge future.

 

Conner - It was the Drew Barker show. Barker is playing a different game than everyone else. Extremely impressive and the throws look effortless. On the negative, the Conner receivers drop way too many balls and I am talking about balls that are dead on target. Conner was by far the best 7 on 7 team. For everyone playing the Cougars, my advice is to send the house and put pressure on Barker, their receivers are not skilled enough to excel under that kind of pressure.

 

There was a "fight" between Dixie and Conner. I am not certain who instigated the fight but I am thinking it may have been a Dixie LB. Either way, the coaches got right on it, cleared the field, and ended the competition between Conner and Dixie other than I believe they did some JV work together at the end of the day.

 

And in my opinion comparing Moore and Barker isn't fair to Moore. I think this is something we may want to revisit this time next year.

Not surprised. I wouldn't expect Scott to look real good in a 7 on 7. While they have some skill players, they likely won't be throwing the ball a ton (which they will need to be able to do some if they want to be a real force). One of the main strengths of this team wasn't there.....the O and D lines, and the other, the ability to run the football, isn't really showcased in a 7 on 7.

As much as I love Moore as a player, I obviously couldn't agree more.

I'm agreeing with you and going to express the same sentiments about Conner. They will have a very strong running game between Barker, McKeehan, Way and others. Conner's line is going to be a force to be reckoned with. This team will be tough to defend due to not being one dimensional and having a "coach" on the field.
