Dixie Heights 2013/2014

What does dixie need to do to improve? Who will start? Who will be the key players this season?

I think Dixie has a lot to offer this upcoming season. They return almost everyone and will likely bring up some juniors who played primarily JV last season. Probably too soon to tell who would start as I believe they have several kids who could play multiple positions. Obviously this team will be led by Senior Brandon Hatton, tremendous scorer and leader of the squad. They also have Senior Adam Daria who was a starter and solid contributor for most of last season. The Juniors will likely be led by a solid group of 4 kids in Nick Niehaus, Austin Schreck, Liam Rabe, and Andrew Hedger. I have also heard Drew Moore will be playing this season, and if so you can certainly throw him into that mix, as he is real athletic and played for years before last season. My opinion is that these 7 could certainly be the biggest contributors, but you may also see the growth of 6'4ish, athletic, swingman Matt Isbel, and 6'7ish Mitch Bolin could be a force inside if given the opportunity. He still needs to work on his strength and his hands. Dixie may also have a Sophomore or two with some spot minutes (D. Williams comes to mind, as he played spotty minutes last season).

All in all, Coach Chevalier will have a lot to work with! I don't think they will have to lean on Hatton quite as much this season as last, but make no mistake, I believe he is the leader of the team, and they will need his typical contributions.

You seem to be quite the Dixie guy BF... why don't you say hi at a game?

This thread to be shut down in 3....2...1....

Dixie has a chance to be a region contender. Depends on the junior class. Lots of good options in that class that fill a lot of roles.

Tough team and a 9th region contender but there is always the problem of how much do you lean on Hatton and how much do you not lean on Hatton.

My guess (key) is you'll see more confidence in the junior class this year than when they were sophs. My guess(key again) is that they deferred a lot to BH due to it being their first year at the varsity level. BH knows he can't win it by himself. I think you'll see a better mix this year.
